I haven’t posted in a while, but glad I checked in. Great work, Hel! I am proud of you.
Damn fine work Hel! Good to see that you have some big company with you there.
Bringin’ home the gold. Nice going Hel.
Awesome job hel!
Someone has to be No. 1, glad it’s you. AWESOME.
Thanks to all. It’s really very much appreciated.
Went through my vids and I’ve sped up a little on my throws. Hit 2 season PRs yesterday, real happy with that. Shooting for overall PRs at the next meet in 2 weeks. Still keeping my damn left arm too low and and not using it enough and dragging in the middle transition. More practice needed on my form and rhythm.
As always, my wife was lavish with her praise, “those are cuter than the last ones. Are we going to breakfast tomorrow?” So this morning went for a swim and took wife to out to breakfast. Back at it tomorrow.
Hel,
What a nice way to spend a weekend…juggling everyday life, then taking a ‘short’ trip, tossing, throwing, heaving, putting, spinning, twirling, and just walking away with a bunch of 1sts and PR’s, then driving home(gloating) and already planning in your mind the next one…my hat’s off to you & your support crew!!!
Yeeeeaaaahhhh baby! Freakin’ awesome!
That is awesome! Congrats my friend! Now, you know they are gonna be gunnin’ for ya!
Congratulations, Hel320. Thanks for sharing the videos with the fruits of your labor.
Thanks Bunny and Geech,

Feeling the affects of not lifting as much during the season. The weights were feeling heavier today. Have to hit a compromise between the lifting and throwing. The past couple of season I’ve relied too much on strength vs technique. This season hoping the off season lifting will carry me through. Tomorrow after work back to the throwing fields. I’m actually considering making a contraption to keep my left arm up at practice.
Worlout looks great hel. I like the idea of working on the technique. As a casual observer it seems to me technique is as important as overpowering strength.
As a student of the gridiron, especially offensive line play, I equate it to a the old fashion scramble block, you are way more effective with great speed and technique.
That Diana Tyuleneva has my technique and spelling torn all to pieces!!

Holy Shit how did I miss this!
Great Job Chief!
Thanks Colin, really appreciated.
Straight from work to the throwing fields. Only about 95 but a nice little breeze. Good practice, all form and speed. Ok, a few all out. My next meet only has the shot and discus so I don’t have to feel as guilty about not devoting as much time to the hammer.
Got a call as soon as I got home. The local Scotish festival was canceled because of no funding so the throwers are putting together an “unsanctioned” throwers workout day/meet. Was I interested? Haven’t put much highland training in so far this year so of course I said hell yes. I’m just like my favorite girl in school. Never can say no.
Day off tomorrow so I’m planning on hitting the gym as early as I can. Feel the need to lift something heavy.
Enjoy the day off, good lifting tomorrow. Thanks for the words of philosophy earlier.
That’s very cool hel! You’re an inspiration to many of us big man! Congratulations!

Just noting that you have increased your squat over 30% in a matter of five days! Hatfield indeed, and more, at this rate by the end of the month!
Geech, This last squat session was ugly. The bar was way up on my traps and I barely had two fingers from each hand on the bar. Can’t even feel the weight on my legs. It’s more a matter of how long I can keep my arms back. Thought about just doing one mega set so I don’t have to get back under the bar. Been walking around my backyard with a pole on my back trying to loosen up my shoulders. I’m not going to give up on squatting.

You might try doorway stretches, arm circles and progressively longer range bar dislocates to get those guys loosened up before squatting.
There’s a lotta years of little external rotation there, so it may take a while to get ROM.
However, you can do snatches, so the shoulder can externally rotate. It’s just a matter of time.
Would overhead squats make a contribution to the desirable shoulder ROM in this context?
Skid and Geech, On the snatch and over head squats the bar is lined up directly over my head. Hits that point and stops. I’ll keep stretching and I’m hoping my shoulder will eventually get use to the position.
Yesterday
Had just enough rain the night before to make sure the humidity peaked real nice yesterday. Had to do forced overtime so worked about 10 hours in it. Was soaked with sweat after delivering the mail. Come back in the station and the supervisors have the temp at about 70 degrees. I guess sitting at a desk all day eating donuts really heats you up.
“I don’t know why I can’t loose weight?”
“Maybe cause you sit on your ass and eat all day. Go work out after work.” (I’m helpful to a fault)
“I’m too tired after work.”
“Yeah, pushin’ that pen all day is a killer.”
Sorry for the rant.
Went straight to throwing afterwards. Had a real good training session. Form is coming together. Came home, shower, crash and burn.
