I was a bad boy. Dante coulda used me for his example of gluttony yesterday. I hogged out (step above piggin out). Figured today would be an all yard work day. Plan half worked til the thunderstorm came rollin in. Sat down to read the threads here and yawl shamed me into goin’ to the gym.

Wanted to throw today but thunderstorms again. Don’t mind rain but lightening, metal objects, and an open field, nah. Want to bench Friday so I ht some of the stuff I haven’t hit in a while.

Actually that was only a daunt to keep you motivated. (note to self: Never try to mess with a physcs head). I am giving some real thought to getting serious on the bench and dead after track season and seeing what I can do in some big push/pull meets. I also have a secret dream of squatting again and entering a full powerlifting meet. Still working on getting the bar behind my neck.

Nice going hel, I can’t wait to read your log when you and Colin begin training for a PL meet.

I bet he would too.

Summer(still spring I know) in the south, over 90 and and relative humidity about the same today.

After work, straight to the throwing fields. Had to chalk my neck after every throw to keep the shot from sliding off.

Shot and disc - full form, speeding up
Sweated like a pig. Don’t get no better. Loved it.
Showered up and waitin while mama gets all prettied up. Zydeco with the family at the Knights of Columbus tonight. Brother Remi doing the catering and Niece Marie the bartending. Mama goin’ be driving us home. Good time all.

Yep, nothing better than heat and humidity. Sounds like a good practice session.I bet the evening will be great fun as well.

My proudest moment.
Squats
3 set x12 reps w/45#(the bar), on my back, conventional PL form to 90 degrees (no belt, wraps, or suit, either!).
That’s not a misprint.
The gym I use has 2 great squat racks. Problem with squat racks is to get the bar anywhere near on my back I have to go to the collars with my hands. Right where the rack supports are. This morning decided I would squat or snap something in my shoulder. Lots of stretching which did nothing. Finally put my hands where they had to be and going forward forced myself under the bar. Nothing snapped but it felt like I was trying to bend the bar. Nice slow,semi-wide stance, toes slightly pointed out. Think I experienced a squatgasm. Was very careful putting the bar back cause pinkies are right at the supports. First time conventional squatting in many years.
I will now add squats to my routine.
Also did a bunch of other anti-climactic stuff.

Great to hear you can get under the bar. I forgot how wide you are and that the supports might be a problem.

I knew some guys with the same problem who used to open their hands re-racking the bar as they hit the uprights to avoid finger amputation.

Way to go hel! That is a heckuva accomplishemt. It will be fun following the progress of your return to squating.

Don’t know if I’ll ever get any flexibility back in my left shoulder. Took three bullets in the left rear delt/lat. Chipped some bones and left a lot of scar tissue. The shoulder was messed up pretty good a second time when I crashed in a copter. Broke most things on my left side. Doesn’t give me problems, it just stops when it gets to a certain point. Doesn’t do it benching, only when I try and rotate the upper arm back past my head. Same reason I keep hitting myself in the back of the head when I do behind the neck presses. I’ll just be uncomfortable while squatting and I’ll get use to it.
Enough of the excuses.

Finished work and went throwing. Next meet is Saturday. I’ve resolved to spin faster this meet whatever the results. I’ve been playing it safe and muscling the implements. I’m not getting where I want that way.

Let’s get something straight, you are a fucking stud!!!End of story!!!
