You keep putting up some damn good training numbers! Man this is cool to follow!

Hel, awesome to help the youngsters. Your workouts are there. The best to your throwing.

Nice work Cheif! You should have responded that you were going to shove his head up a baby’s ass…Second thought better to just ignore it…

From the people who put out Masters Athlete (Formerly Geezer Jock) have just announced an on line magazine called Masters Strength and Fitness geared towards the masters athlete that competes in strength related sports. The magazine will be put out quarterly online if you sign up on the below website. Still pretty new and not much on it but we’ll see how it evolves.

Some of the pics are QT. We need a pic of Colin in the speedo. WOW

You’re right Barry. I mean about QT. Colin has yet to make his debut.

After work yesterday, straight to the throwing area. Concentrated on the disc. Definitely making sure I have plenty of Ice in the frig for the shoulder.

Hel, here’s something great for your shoulder (or any achy joints or muscles for that matter), in case you don’t know about this already: www.biofreeze.com

It works by cold therapy, rather than heat like most. I got a bunch of free samples from a senior games goodie bag and it seems to work really well for localized pain relief.

Hey BB, they gave us the same sample bag at Louisville last year. I remember the biofreeze but never used it. Think I still have it around here some where. I’ll give it a try.

Friday night and I had to force myself to give up the heavy bench and get some speed work in. Love to lift heavy but I don’t think it’s doing anything for my explosiveness. Got to get the muscles use to moving faster. Did everything, except the rear delt raises, with a pause between each rep with as much speed as I could without actually letting go of the weights.

Bench
135,185x10x6
Incline
DB 50,60wu, 65x10x6
Standing mil press
135x10x4
standing btn press
135x10x4
rear delt raise
30x8x4

Your going from Charlie Brown to Colin “WAD HOLMES” Wilson. I’m in for 5 on the speedo, who’s with me?

Are we, or the world for that matter, ready for for the over 35 speedo pose down?

Back when I was throwing for the Air Force Flo Jo was setting all the records and made spandex the big thing. So they buy us all these new outfits. They came in a tube. Struggled into mine, the wife takes one look and says, “You will not wear those.” They definitely accentuated your assets so to speak.

Last night (still going with the speed)
Power clean
135, 185x5x5
High Pulls
135x5,155x5,185x4x2
Power snatch
135x5x3

alt hammer curls
45x8x4

Me, in a speedo, now that is scary

Ouch!

Okay, as a concession to our age the pose down uniform will be BVDs, calve length black socks with dress shoes, and a baseball cap. Cap logo optional.

Beautiful day today. Hit the throwing field as the sun came up and got in some real good training with the shot.

Breakfast at the veterans home featuring my world (ok, locally) famous pancakes.

Mowed and weedeated.

Nap on the deck. Life is good.

heck, big James might draw quite a following if he wore a Speedo

hel, I bet the nice weather is affecting your throwing in a positive way, as compared to when there’s snow on the ground.

You’re so right about the weather affecting the throwing QT. Another beautiful day and I headed right to the field after work. The college team wasn’t practicing so I had the whole field to myself. Nothing but blue skies and green grass (I think I see a Coke commerical here… “I’d like to teach the world to throw…”).

Anyway, concentrated on the discus and icing the shoulder tonight. Off tomorrow so hitting the gym at 0400. 13 days to my first meet.

Hel, how are your distances looking? 4a.m. …I’ll be at the soccer mom workout center at 5 a.m. My cleans and squats will be in your honor. Good training!

jw, Shot is coming great, disc so-so, and weight throw sucks. Keep bringing my throwing arm even with my body during the spin in the disc so all I’m getting is arm into it.

This morning at 0405. I slept in.

Everything stopped at bottom and try to press with as much force/speed as I could. Didn’t work real well on the lighter weights.

Great training. I envy the throwing but I know what pain it would mean for me. Good luck in the first meet.
