Since you competed in your state games you’re eligible for the Southeast Sports Festival which is in Tallahassee (at FSU) this year, Aug 1-3. The Senior Decathalon was in Birmingham, Al last year. I’ll see if I can find out some info on it this year. So, welcome to the madness. I’ll probably run into you at some meets.

Looked at the calendar and realized my first meet of the season is right around the corner, Alabama Senior Olympics.

Ahhhh, senior olympics, the guys at work often remind me I’m just a couple of years from qualifying for those. That’s some sic benching hel! I feel like such a cream puff when I see those numbers.

Great comeback hel. Wish I could have thought of something like that a couple years ago when I was doing power cleans in the local Gold’s in front of one of the squat racks. Young guy, who was waiting for the squat rack says “Geez, you must be like 60 or somethin’”, which kind of pissed me off since I was “only” 58 at the time, so I increased the weight and did a few more sets. After I was done, the guy got in the squat rack to start his “curl workout”.

I wish I could say I really had to take off weight for him. Truth is I work out with some young bucks that are seriously strong. But I’m definitely better looking and a better smart ass than them.

Hel, I love messin’ with the children. I have my headphones on and little is said. If they don’t have good gym etiquette i try to bury them. If they fuck with a youngster then i’m an ass and as HT told me on the phone I have a big ass which enables me to be a big ass. Rock on and train hard, have a great week.

Yesterday, Sunday, had a great day of throwing. My shoulder’s telling me about it today. Even got to practice the weight throw.

Why I shouldn’t stray from this forum. I posted on a thread outside of the over 35 lifter. Here’s a reply I got:

For those who have been following this thread, my protégé set the City record for both the shot and discus Friday. I think he’ll break the regional and has a good shot at state, too. Saturday he received phone calls from 3 colleges “expressing interest” and wanting him to visit campus.

hel - nice to see that someone benefits from the years of experience and patience, huh??? It must be very gratifying…the ball swings both ways, too…you get to train and throw with a great bunch of guys and just like this forum, everyone must help each other in the ways that they are able to…it makes for a great environment to train in.
