Thib Results: Poliquin's Insulin Protocol

I’m starting my Insulin Protocol this week, looking forward to the results.

I am not sure if I will get flamed or if my post will get deleted but I discovered the following:

Poliquin Insulinomics → Metagenics Insinase

Poliquin Fenuplex → Fenugreek Plus

Poliquin Ultra HCL 4.0 → Vital Nutrients Betaine HCL Pepsin & Gentian

These are the exact products sourced for the three products used for this protocol.

Those ingredients look to be the same, did someone decide to bite on Poliquin’s ideas?

Not sure who invented their brand first, but I know Charles recognizes Metagenics as a quality supplement in many respects, though points out they are typically pricey.

Side note, definitely take his BioSig course if you get a chance. I’ve taken it twice, and plan to do another later this year (yes, you learn THAT much). Cheers.

I am taking this protocol as my poor insulin sensitivity and lack of stomach acid cause me all kinds of issues.

I really need to run Poliquin’s cortisol protocol but glycine makes me sick which means that I need to detox my liver.

What is Poliquin’s detox protocol? I cannot find it anywhere on the web.

I tried DIM (not Poliquin’s products) and I could tell that it helped alleviate estrogen issues but my kidneys had a problem with DIM for some reason…?

I really like his line of supplements, I just wish that there was a description for some of his new ones.

I can raise my routine … for the assessment here?..I made it based on your article as a pretty good design …

hi all. Greetings Mr. Thibaudeau. this my second time posting ever. i’ve tried to read as much as possible so i don’t ask something i shouldn’t, but here goes…

basically from prelim observations and general visual and internal feelings, i believe i am seriously stressed out (high cortisol, fat belly relative to whole body), very insulin insensitive (general chubiness, weight gain, love handles, fat upper back) and probably very low in testoaterone (thickish pec skin and tris). also staating to get some moobs (man boobs…just a little). oh, there’s also a touch too much around the midaxilary area(thyroid)

i guess that’s what happens to a 31 yera old who gets married, has 2 kids in 2 yrs, has a stressful job and moves house and country all within 3 yrs. 1 will be 34 this month.

i will admit that i have seriously let myself go of late and am wanting to get back into it…full on proper training/diet/supps.

the advice i am looking for is if there is some way to combine the protocols into one and sort out all the issues since those hormones are very much interrelated, or is it wiser to go it one at a time?

thanks

I hope Thibs don’t mind here,

But when I went through my bio-sig stuff one or two hormones are the best to do. Not all of them.

Mind you mine were Insulin First, then Cortisol. We decided to attack insulin mostly through diet and hit cortisol with some supps. With those two everything else seems to come into line a little more as well!

You should fix your most problematic first.

Darkane,

What supplement protocol did you use to hit cortisol?

Any updates reports on how this protocol worked for them?

ok. thanks Darkane.

anyone else with any input?

Yep, fix one problem at the time. Anyway, when you fix the most important problems, others often goes away.

Great. what do you think about hitting cortisol/insulin now and then pushing the androgens after?

Technically controlling cortisol and insulin should lead to an increase in androgens.

HI Thibs, thanks for the quick replies. Yeah, I assumed so about the androgens increasing, but what if afterwords your total test levels are still like under 500? You could like try to push to like 800-1000+ right?

Coach,

My free testosterone was measured, and it was almost at the lowest point of the range (the range in this test was 150-500 (free testosterone), and i had 227.) I also have high pectoral, triceps and umbilical measure of fat.

My energy levels are pathetic, sexual drive is very low and i’m in a bad mood more often than in good mood. Could you please give some advice what should i do? This is killing me…

Any advice would be highly appreciated!

Some points:

  • My carb sources are fruits and veggies + PWO drink, protein is at least 300g/day and fat at least 100g/day
  • Some trouble sleeping, but now i sleep better than before (8hours/day)
  • Now i’m deloading every third workout for the same muscle group
  • I have always been fat, now i’m at ~15%
  • I’m taking phosphatidylserine and glycine PWO to fight cortisol
  • I’m 25 years old and 95kg.

Thank you, if you have time to answer.

I got some blood work done a while ago, and also found my free test was on the low end. Thibs recommended, and I quote: “Eurcoma longifolia (tongkat ali), avena sativa and horny goat weeds are all herbs that than help slightly.”

I just started taking an avena sativa supplement, but it’s too early to note the effects. I’ve got HGW and tongkat ali waiting in my arsenal. I didn’t want to throw everything in at once so I could tell which is most effective for me.

I have very low pec and tricep measures, but I would suspect yours could improve if you are able to elevate your free test.

Regarding Biosignature in general…I look back from times where I was at the same bf% (taken with a 3-point test) and I notice a few things

-Just from 6 weeks ago with lower bf% I now have slightly lower thigh skinfolds but chest and abs are 2+mm higher, why would I just gain there and not in my thighs? I did start doing more HIIT since there and really seemed to notice a difference in thigh skinfolds when doing that but I’m not sure

-From about a year ago, and the same bf%, my thigh skinfolds are about what they’re at now but instead of chest being significantly higher than abs (17 vs. 14mm now) my abdominal skinfold was higher than chest (15.5 chest and 17 for abs). Why would the area of fat shift like that?

If it helps I’ve recently started an AD-style diet and most of the fat gain has seemed to be in the lower abdominal area and chest (chest even more so according to calipers)

Thanks

Pumped,

Are you self-assessing or do you have someone measuring you?
