…Not stupid at all. You have every reason to be cautious.

If I were you, I would consider getting tested (BioSig) first to see where your free test levels are currently.

A Poliquin certified BioSignature Practitioner could assist you in determining your hormonal profile and addressing any imbalances that may exist.

Take a look at the links provided above. Perhaps you can find a BioSig Practitioner in your area.

It would be a wise investment.

peace

Not likely.

They test steroids either by…

  1. Testing for a foreign substance or its metabolites (this works for synthetic steroids which do not have the same chemical structure as testosterone)

  2. Testing the testosterone to epitestosterone ratio. Since testosterone is already produced in the body it is hard to tell injected testo from endogenous testo. The T/E ratio is normally 1/1 (you produce as much epitesto as testo) but someone using testosterone would have a much higher ratio since he is injecting testo but is not increasing his epitesto levels.

Natural test boosters do not have foreign/banned substances in them (this is NOT true for all the pro-hormone and pro-steroid products) and since they only help your body to produce more testo, it also leads to balanced epitesto ratios.

This isn’t a repost, but rather an update. If anyone has any ideas/opinions please let me know. My original post at Thibs Q&A is below. I’ve been on a cortisol/insulin protocol for a few weeks now, but I’m not sure it’s working. I was kind of under the impression that drastic results were somewhat the norm. I haven’t noticed a change in scale weight, or appearance in the mirror.

The fellow that did my caliper measurements isn’t located conveniently, so I was waiting for a couple more weeks to get measured again. Am I on the right track here? Anything else anyone can suggest? Thanks!

Original post:
Skinfolds as follows:
Chin: 5mm
Cheek: 8.2mm
Pec: 3.6mm
Tri: 5.1mm
Subscap: 12.3mm
Midaxil: 7.2mm
Supra-iliac: 11.2mm
Umbilicus: 14mm
Knee: 5.1mm
Calf: 6.3mm

5’10", 163 lbs. 12.7% BF

I’m starting on an insulin/cortisol lowering protocol right now. Also adding Ultra HCI with meals. I’m going to be taking ACV and cinnamon before meals. Holy basil twice a day. Fenugreek and l-leucine with meals. Upping my dose of fish oils to about 15 g/day with about 3 g l-carnitine. I’m going to up my BCAA to approx. 16 g peri-workout and maintain my post workout carb/protein shake.

I currently follow a paleolithic-type diet with only trace carbs on non-workout days.

Does this sound like a reasonable plan for a couple months, or overkill? I’m curious on your opinions on whether I should discontinue HOT-ROX Extreme during this protocol.
Thanks for any info and opinions!

Without a consistent measurement schedule, it might be difficult to accurately track your progress.

Thanks Pauli,

I’ll likely wait another week or two before getting measured again. I think I’m falling into the trap of paying too much attention to the mirror. Some days I do think I see the waistline disappearing.

I think I’ll also drop the carb powder in my post-workout shake and add glutamine and more protein instead. Does anybody know where I can find glycine? Thibs often mentions it, but I have no idea where to get it. Does it come in powder and cap form?

Thanks!

Glycine is best purchased in bulk. These folks get much of my monthly business:
nutrabio.com/Products/glycine.htm?gclid=COXWsdGwkZcCFQECGgodIjb-Iw

Glycine is expensive when purchased in capsule form. So I would recommend using capsules only for portability and convenience.

Also, for what it’s worth,
When I recommend regular measurements, what I really mean to say is that you will find much greater success with weekly measurements.

I do not know your Practitioner of his/her policy, but as a general rule, I have always found it more productive to set up the BioSignature program using a 12 weekly measurement plan.

The rationale is that in many cases, the protocols work quickly, and continuing to use a protocol for Insulin (for instance) when your issue is now Cortisol, is going to inhibit your progress…make sense?

Where are you in Ontario?
I’m close to Windsor (comparatively) and I am associated with a good many BioSignature Practitioners in the Toronto area.

Of course, if your practitioner is close and you have built a good relationship…by all means, continue!

Thanks for the link! I’ve never heard of that company before. I’ll likely try a few of their products. Good prices.

I’m in Cambridge. I grew up near Windsor though (Chatham). I’ll call my practitioner and discuss a more regular measurement schedule. I agree it makes sense to keep an eye on how the protocol/s are working and adjust as necessary.

I got measured again Friday. There were a few surprises:
BF: 10.5% - down 2.2%
LBM: 145 lbs, up 1.9%

Chin: 3.9mm down 22%
Cheek: 8.3mm up 1.2%
Pec: 2.7mm down 25%
Tri: 3.1mm down 39.2%
Subscap: 9.9mm down 19.5%
Midaxillary: 6.1 mm down 15.3%
Supra-iliac: 9.8mm down 12.5%
Umbilicus: 12.2mm down 12.9%
Knee: 5.1mm - no change
Calf: 5.6mm down 11.1%

I’m fairly pleased with the results so far. The pec and tri measurements were a little surprising. The subscap, supra-iliac and umbilicus measurements didn’t drop nearly as much as I had hoped. Any ideas on how to better target those areas?

Congratulations! It looks like you are doing quite well -quite well indeed!

Your subscap is below 10 now -that’s good progress and your tricep and pec site are telling us that your androgens are on a positive swing, so that’s good news as well.
I would keep adhering to your practitioner’s recommendations.

You may have to address cortisol at some point, but he/she may wait until your insulin sites have stalled.

Good work!
Keep it up!

Thanks Pauli! As mentioned, I’m going to add glutamine and glycine to my program. Hopefully that helps.

Can glycine or PS be added to hot liquids, i.e. tea, coffee?

Thanks

I got some Calcium D Glucarate which I will take with Estroclear for men. Anyone know how many pills and how many times per day to take the CDG ?

Glycine tastes sweet to me, and mixes pretty well, so I’m sure it could be taken with hot liquids.

Calcium D Glucarate is generally recommended at 200-400mg daily. Many recommend beginning light and gradually increasing the dosage until you’ve reached the appropriate dosage for your condition.

Another common practice is not avoiding supplement atop supplement until one is confident there are no negative effects of each. In other words, if you’re contemplating two supplements, gradually add one and maintain that dosage for a specified period before gradually adding the second.

Make sense?

Pauli,

Did you mean ‘avoiding’ stacking supplement atop supplement?

I did, thanks!
Nice catch…That’s exactly what I meant -i.e. Avoid too many supplements at once AND…avoid adding more than one supplement at a time.

You’ll just never know what’s working and what’s not and sometimes…things that work well alone get all muddled-up when used in conjunction with something else.

You could be taking a supplement that is really doing you some good…but the other crap you’re taking is masking the good supplement’s effects…see?

can I replace insulinomics with glycine ? my bio sig advisor suggested I could use Glycine instead of insulinomics to help with the insulin issue along with Fenuflex.

I also have high quality powdered Fenugreek seeds, can I replace fenuplex with this. If yes, then how much of Fenugreek would equal to the fenuplex tablets.

Just dropped a pretty penny over at CP’s store. I’ve been meaning to try this protocol out for awhile and now that I’m finally lean enough to see the benefits I’m hitting it up. I’ll report back with my results if anybody is interested.

I think that would be a good idea ESK221; anyones input on this protocol would be a great addition to this site.

I just read through most of this thread and got really interested in it.
