This is great news. Talk to someone whose profession is to help people in your situation. All the comments in this thread are just advice from people with good intentions who have no idea at all what you’re feeling or how to help you.

Well now I can’t stop myself…like everyone’s been saying…we just want to help. I don’t expect anything from you from this but I have some things you can put in your brain that have helped me in the past in various stages of hardcore anxiety /training madness beating myself over disappointments I feel I had.

There are many people who have stopped squatting–stopped dead lifting whatever,-for a long period of time…came back to it stronger. Maybe you’re in a rut that your body can’t get you out of and your brain is freaking so its no help just circling in a cycle of deed, dispair, and disappointment.

You don’t have to squat a lot to get better at it. There are many way to get results! Maybe some time off it concentrating on things that make you feel positive and less trapped in a zone of unmoving gains will boost your confidence and when you come back to it it’ll be less of a stress. It takes discipline to NOT do things sometimes… Or swap up to a movement you don’t normally do so the stress to get better is not so high.

I would like to say also --cut yourself some slack. A crisis of confidence is not a easy thing to just forget and put on the shelf so you can get all amped up to train–its a foundational problem that pretty much takes over everything. You are doing remarkable well for what you experience and combat on a day to day basis. Saying that I STILL think you are a killer with the wt’s. You ARE!

UPDATE:

Powerlifting and I had a long talk last night and he promised he wouldn’t beat me anymore if I promised to stop acting like a psychotic bitch. We’ve had our ups and downs, but we really are very happy together you know? Someday we’ll be wed.

So yesterday instead of bumming around like a moron being miserable about my squat I decided to be proative and watch Mark bell videos until my eyes went cross-eyed. KNOWLEDGE IS MY GREATEST TOOL IN BECOMING STRONGER.

I found a really good stretch that will help keep my back more upright when I get deep into the hole and a number of various form tips, etc…

I went into the gym today feeling very hopeful, BUT also remembering that that past flu I had was one of the very worst flu’s I’ve ever had in my entire life, and I truly believe it has affected my strength a great deal. I know my max is well below what it was a month ago. So no pressure, and no frustration!!

I am going to try and go back to my broz inspired routine for as long as I can because I really enjoy it and it’s the strongest my squat has ever been. I am not promising that I wont freak out at some point, but it’s never too late to try and change. :slight_smile:

So squat form felt really good today, there was one set where my descent was a little too fast so my knees got a bit cavey, but then I slowed it down and I had no knee cavey issues, even during slow reps my knees stayed good, so yay.

OH, now I don’t know if anyone knows who this is, except that sam mcelllean guy who used to post here, but I was one of the first people to pre order a copy of seasick steve’s latest album so I GET A SIGNED ONE!!! That means a famous music person will have phsycailly touched something I own!!

My kid could have very easly come behind the bed, trapped me, and fired non-stop, but he thinks it’s a better idea to hide behind my full length mirror and shoot at me from a distance.
I am thinking WTF, what a horrible strategy, he’s in such an awkward place. Then I am like OMG! If I duck and cover and move real fast I could just run the hell outta here while he’s tapped behind my mirror.
So my heart starts pounding with excitment like, “will I make it!!!” I hesistate no longer and grab my shit and GO GO GO GO !!!
My kids all liek “AHHH MOMMY!!! NO!!!” Trying to wiggle his way out from beind the mirror. His gun gets stuck in the process so he can’t do jack shit really, LOl. He was so fucking pissed. I made it out safe and sound, but it truly was a very thrilling moment for me.
