It’s not like I’ll be there so It aint THAT important
Everyone starts somewhere with competing. Think of it as setting a baseline. You’ll go nowhere but up.

Don’t I have to get really good numbers to make that? BUT FINE, I’ll DO IT! ![]()
K so today was a little weird
Bench
105 x 5
115 x 5
120 x 3
125 x 1
125 x 1
125 x 1
115 x 5
I benched in the squat rack today and it wasn’t much better than the stupid regular benches cause the pins are too high to even use so I was still safety-less. I dunno, benching heavy is lame when any technical error could crush you…
PLUS the rack itself is croocked so the left side was way back and the right side was eye level, ya.
ANxiety about benching Wondering how I can get better at this when so much dumb shit is making it hard to stay tight…!
NG pull ups 3 x 3
Random rear detly shit 3 x 10
lat pull downy with like seperate handles shit 3 x 12
hill intervals x 15 minutes
Ran outta time
Intervals were actually sorta fun cause I rememberd to bring my Ipod, YAY.
So I am content with how squatting and deadlifting is feeling at the moment, but I need to figure out some benching. Overall today sorta sucked cause ya. I’ll shut up now.
Life news:
Bday party yesterday WAS AWESOME. I am totally having my 27th at chuck E cheese. yOU GET A FUCKING CROWN AND A MEDAL!
ANd if you follow chuck E around clapping and singing you get free tickets. Never have I enjoyed if you’re happy and you know it sOO MUCH.
um today I went “swimming” and convinced my kid to go down this huge ass waterslide with me SO FUN.
But since he refused at first I said he could have an I OWE U where if he really wanted something he could cash in his I OWE U and get it.
He said he wanted his I OWE U to be infinite I OWE U’S. LOL HE IS SO SMRT.
K nothing else.
I miss my vibrator
t-minus 2 years and 11 months until I can possibly use it again, le sigh.
BYE

I am not slow. Ok, well I am sometimes, but I didn’t take THAT long to reply. You’re just impulsive, haha. Besides, you said the shoes made you feel sturdy. Good purchase.

Google, spock. According to the CPU website, the national qualifying standard total for women competing unequipped would be 250kg (~550 pounds) in the 63kg (~138 pounds) weight class, and 277.5kg (~611 pounds) in the 72kg (~158 pounds) weight class. Looks doable to me.

You ever thought about doing your GPP/conditioning work on your off days? Use it as more of an active recovery thing instead of slapping it onto the end of a strength workout? Might work, might not.

That’s the spirit! And ya, those are the numbers needed in Jonty’s post. Completely doable.
Good work Spock.
How are you finding the new shoes? Im thinking of getting some.
Did you used to squat barefoot before? What feels different with the new shoes?

Nobody cared who he was until he put on the mask.

The mask will be unveiled.

Actually, I used to use chucks to squat cause I thought I was supposed to, but since I copy everything StormTheBeach does I decided to get some oly shoes so we could match and stuff, heh.
It just feels very sturdy and somewhat more natural to squat. I think you should get them!
It’s just like when you were unsure if you should buy a crock pot! I’ll bet that paid off ![]()

Why IS THERE SUCH A HUGE GAP BETWEEN WEIGHT CLASSES?! I don’t wanna have to diet down to 138, but I sure as hell don’t wanna fatten up to 158. EEEEEEEEAA.
I guess I’ll put 158 on the forms and see what happens.
You don’t think hill sprints would make too leg tiredy to squat the next day? No probably not.
I should do cardio on my off days instead.
K MEET PLANNING OFFICIALLY COMPLETED
Doing something called, oh hmm, my papers are all downstairs so I forget what it’s called.
Some type of russian meet peaking program.
It’s 9 weeks long.
This week rest/cardio/break from weight lifting since I haven’t had one in years.
9 weeks of russian-ing
1 week test openers etc
deload
meet
CELBRATE that I finally left my comfort zone and did something even though my anxiety told me not too, hA.
ACTUALLY, I’ll bet I wouldn’t even have to diet and my pre meet nerve related toilet issues would drop me down like 10 lbs HAHA.
MMK YA SO starting next mon.
This week my log will be boring.
HUG’s N’ KISSES*****
You realize you don’t have to weigh in at exactly the top of the weight class right? Go in at a weight you’re comfortable with and see how you do, so you have a baseline with which to judge future meet performances. Every piece of advice I’ve ever read says to not worry about where your weight ends up at your first meet.

This. In fact, weight classes only matter when you’re going for records, so don’t sweat it Spock.

I agree there 100%. I’ve literally never tried to make weight yet. I might try at nationals. Then again, I might not.

It’s just a thought. Try it out, see if it works. Keep doing it if it does, change it up if it doesn’t. It’s just that by putting strength and conditioning work in the same workout, with two sufficiently different stimuli your body may not be optimally responding/adapting to either. Splitting them up could help with that.

What these guys have said. Don’t worry about it and just compete at whatever weight you’re walking around/training at. Unlike these guys though, I ALWAYS work to make weight, but I used to wrestle so it comes naturally, and if I don’t I’d be competing in the supers (there’s no 120kg class in weightlifting, after 105 it’s 105+).
Anytime I compete to win, I will try to make weight. Anytime I just compete for myself (like every time so far) I won’t try. Log hijack. Jonty, why do you cut weight even for meets that don’t necessarily matter?

Because I’m stupid like that? But really, I only compete maybe 3-4 times a year so it’s not a huge deal, and as I see it, I use every opportunity to practice making weight, and to also help keep my weight in check to make sure I don’t accidentally balloon into a superheavy. Also, only competing 3-4 times a year, all of them tend to “matter” in one way or another.
