Exactly, I love cookies, ice cream and fast food and my physique (or lack thereof) is proof:)

Lift, do A LOT of aerobic training, and try eating a very tiny amount above maintenance. Hopefully, you won’t trigger the fat storage part of the primitive brain, is all I can say.

I took your advice and this is what I look like, WHERE DID I GO WRONG OH GOD!!!
I love how everybody in these arguments think that one way is 100% right, and the other way is 100% wrong.
It is the same with politics, religion, etc…
Sound advice for the most part, even if you’re trolling lol. The problem is there is no accurate established or even ballpark estimate for “maintenance” since your energy output chases your input.

HawaiiMike, what…the…flying…fuck? I mean really dude?
I personally ate and still eat fast food all the damn time (see the Eat to Be Big or whatever thread).
Of course, I wouldn’t expect everyone to have the same results, thus I wouldn’t tell people to eat fast food all the time. I’m just lucky.
The point? Listen to TD.

Could you please elaborate on the energy output chases your input part? If I eat more (input) I will use more energy (output) and look better and finally achieve at least a Beginner’s rating?
This is classic…
To OP.
Go to the ARTICLES on the site. There should be a nutrition section, or a diet/mass programs section. Take 30 minutes to browse a few articles and educate yourself on the basics of nutrition. Then do it.
The right way to bulk will be the way that allows you to gain as much muscle mass as possible, while gaining as little fat as possible. It may be .5lbs a week for you, or it may be 3lbs/week. But if you haven’t even taken the time to do a search or read the articles, then its likely you are not going to have success; regardless of the method you use.

When used sparingly they’re great ways to add calories and get bigger and stronger. [/quote]

I make sure I get my protein in first during a meal, then it’s a free-for-all to top up the kcals.
AND Anyone giving advice in these sorts of threads should have at least 1 pic on display (cough hawiimike and headhunter cough)
maybe I’m just a simpleton, but I just eat alot, try not to eat complete garbage, and increase food intake if i’m not gaining. I’m not fat, and have added plenty of muscle. I am by no means predisposed to have high strength levels or mass levels, I would be very skinny without lifting.
too much fat gain, throw in a little cardio. not gaining weight, eat more. very simple. No need to count/calculate your macronutrients and calories and grams of bullshit in your food unless you are trying to get very lean.

“A LOT” of aerobic training is also pretty subjective as well(and more the part I was targetting, I should have clarified), thus the attached picture of a marathon runner. Some cardio to keep your fat gain in check is advocated by every intelligent poster on these boards, but running mini-marathons on the treadmill every morning is not putting you on the fast track to a standout physique.
Your point about output chasing input I’d assume has to do with changes in metabolism caused by changes in diet/exercise(body fighting to regain stasis), which is a great point, because people constantly try to adhere to some exact mathematical total of kcal’s when you have to continually adjust based on what your body is telling you.

I am embarrassed to say that although I do lift weights, as many have observed before, I do not look like I do. I used to blame my genetics and make excuses, but after reading some threads here and on T-Cell Alpha, I realize I look like this because I train like a pre-pubescent little girl/bitch. The one positive thing that have come from reading threads on this forum is that I now take full responsibility for myself looking like shit. That’s a start…
I appreciate all the information (the helpful ones). I AM young and would classify as a begginer. My goal would be to gain about 1 lb/ week for the next 5-6 months. My genetics (in terms of looking big even though I don’t weigh much) are very good, but for maximum muscle growth I still have to try for myself. Im 5’6 BTW.
My plan would be to follow MAX-OT (Few Sets; Compound with Heavy Weights; Every set to failure, focus on progression) for the upper body and Hot Wheels in a Hurry (from CT) for the lower body (which is probably not hypertrophy specific but at my stage I think it will work fine).
My diet will be HIGH in calories, mostly coming from clean sources with a lot of protein.
I plan to work very hard on my routine and gain minimum amount of fat so I can strip it off and get to 7% bf in about 2 months.
Are there any tips you guys can give me in terms of training or nutrition (I’ve heard of extreme stretching and isometric contractions). I appreciate any useful advice.

Well last week I was in competition with Growing Boy so I had to undercut his quote. The bidding war could pick up here though and the price might drop, you never know…

I just checked hawaiimike’s thread on the supp board. He’s made decent progress since May IMO.

Or you can actually eat like a bodybuilder and not just shovel junk down your throat… seriously man 247 lbs @ 40% is only 148 lean body mass.
You need to clean up your diet some. Don’t do a chicken breast/ricecake diet but don’t stuff yourself with junk calories every meal. Find your maintenance and take it up slowly until your happy with your gains
