The Pursuit of Mythical Gains

:astonished:

This is new to me

Its a crazy little by product of optical encoders. If they’re plugged in backwards from the mother board then instead of working on a positive number based location, they’ll be inputting negative numbers, and the machine will go zipping off in search of Zero, which it will never find.

A common problem call was ā€œMy machine goes flying off the track every time I turn it onā€¦ā€

Cuz they tinkered with it and don’t want to admit it.

Words and music to me, lol.

Kind of like having to cash the checks that you write.

I wonder @SkyzykS if that dude had some influence on one of my past careers - I sold ductile iron pipe. Basically cast iron inoculated with magnesium to create nodules rather than flakes.

I am sure you are familiar with the difficulty of welding on ductile iron.

Personally I am thrilled that I can pay $60 to have someone tune my bike up in half an hour. The bike shop was brilliant. Bunch of old pot heads running a very clean business with a young bike tech doing good work.

It takes all of us.

Only a little, and its not great.

I love bike shop people. Nobody is more stoked to hook you up and perform the many tricks of the trade than bike shop guys. :+1:

Glad you found a good one.

I will definitely write them a Google review.

I ran a tire store for a few years. It was a great experience and I made good money. I learned how to run a business.

Answer the phone, greet customers when they walked in, call them back, keep a clean bathroom for the women folk.

I asked on check out if it was a local business and they said yes. I actually want to go to work for them.

If I actually wanted to work.

Which I don’t.

All I did today, figured the bike will take care of the rest of my legs for now until I get more acclimated to both the gym and the weights.

Measurement Monday - 196.6 @ 17.3 BF%

C1W2D3 - BP

45x10, 95x5, 115x5, 125x10

Incline BP 85x10x4, dips 85x10x4, TPD’s 40x10x4, ab machine 50x15x4

Took yesterday off because, squats. Good pump today but had the shakes by the time I got home (lifted fasted).

Added in a 2.5 mile walk this evening. I find the walk helps with body composition without stealing gains.

Gotta admit, the mirror test is seeing improvements. Will be curious to see what Measurement Monday yields.

Clearly the first six weeks of improvements are CNS, but I am seeing some hypertrophy gains, which motivate me.

I got a two mile walk in tonight.

I think I need to rethink my schedule. Deads with shrugs left me with DOMS for today with OHP. After this cycle ends, I think I might switch the schedule to BP, DL, OHP, SQ.

FWIW, with a pump today, I can see some yoke development, which is kind of my goal.

Chest is still lagging. Calories still lagging. Frankly, I can’t afford to eat 2500 calories per day on carnivore. ground beef was $10.99 a pound today.

I moved it to my thread to not disrupt the bro thread.

I worked for American Golf and we leased it to Gunter and his partners, they were running Sam Sneads.

We leased it to them because we were losing almost $15k per month in the restaurant - full primal cuts walking out the back door along with $1500 immersion blenders, among other things.

My estranged wife bartended there when we met, a friend of mine was a chef there (Vinellis catering).

I think I know what was going on there.

Took the day off today as I have a friend coming into town and needed to do some cleaning around the cabin.

Measurement Monday - 189@17.3%

SQ - 45x10, 95x5, 105x5, 115x10 - I screwed up, should have been 115x5 and 125x5
BP - 45x10, 95x5, 115x5, 125x10

Incline 10x4, dip machine 10x4, TPD’s 10x4, ab machine 15x4

Cold plunge 2 minutes, lol.

Six mile bike ride, 3.2 mile walk.

I have decided to go to a two day template so I can lift every other day and walk on the off days for a few reasons. I start volunteering tomorrow and will need time to do that, and the ride into town is just a hassle. My TM’s are so low I can get through a cycle faster. I figure it will help with hypertrophy for the short term.

Hopefully it looks like this:

Day 1
SQ/BP - 531
Incline BP 10x4, rows 10x4, dips 10x4, abs 15x4, TPD’s 10x4

Day 2
DL/OHP 531
Incline BP 10x4, Pull downs 10x4, curls 10x4, shrugs 10x4, curls 10x4

I will likely do this for the next cycle only, get through it quickly, then I travel for two weeks to see my son turn eighteen and help my parents out. I will have access to Planet Fitness while traveling, but that is not conducive to 531.

Then back to Cali for three weeks for Cycle three, then back to NY for my son’s graduation.

It’s been almost six weeks of continuous lifting for me and I am beginning to see the results - some definition, caps are showing up first as always, some abs peeking (not a six pack), vascularity. It is encouraging.

First six weeks are typically CNS recruiting more fibers and are not hypertrophy, but I think that’s a novice thing as it seems hypertrophy is coming back faster. It seems like having been reasonably jacked in the past, it is easier to get back this time.

I am thinking my goal is 190-195 at 15% which sounds reasonable until you consider I will be 61 in less than four months.

Thanks brother.

I didn’t mean to challenge you, but it seemed to me the Test and HGH was not TRT levels, but I might be jealous.

I think the Adex is high but that is just my experience, not yours.

Squat 125x5x3
OHP 85x5x3
DL 135x5x1

Abmachine 15x4, TPD’s 15x3, BPA’s 15x4, Laterals 8x3

Seven mile bike ride.

@OldSchoolSwole - thanks for the nudge.

Looking forward to seeing how that works out for you. Not a lot of linear progression around here anymore.

Me too. Frankly, didn’t think anyone would catch it - I underestimated the breadth and depth of your reading.

I’m going to justify it more for myself than anyone else.

I was not happy with the weights, kind of embarrassing actually. I had decided to go to a two day template on 531 to speed things up but figured I was guilty of the same thing I accuse others of doing - majoring in the minors. Why bother with the curls and stuff when I’m not even capable of squatting my weight?

My goals were/are health followed by hypertrophy but I felt like the hypertrophy was not happening due to a lack of base strength.

I’ve run SS before and got stronger but struggled sometimes with eating enough and adding weight after a few weeks. I suspect the same will happen this time but am hoping a few more years of maturity will give me some patience when things get tough.

I suspect it is because most guys here are way stronger than I.

I crashed my E2 on .5mg of ADEX while on 140mg of Test C. I was also on HCG at the time so there is that.

I’m currently on 140mg and nothing else.

Of course, I never competed, maxed out at 220 as a fat guy, and currently roll around 190 at 18-20% bodyfat.

So my take on your regimen is probably useless.

My bad.

Figured I would post a progress picture - looks the same as the last three.

I was 194 this morning and 17.5% on my hand held BF monitor, which I think is about three points low - figure I am about 20%.
