I shouldn’t have stopped to get that haircut. Sorry.

OP, do you realize that almost all warm-blooded predators eat much more often than once very 3 days? Most big cats hunt twice a day. Wolves will try to eat daily if they can. That’s not to say they can’t go longer without eating if necessary. But these animals want to eat daily. And they are the healthiest and most able to reproduce when they are eating frequently.
So, unless your model is some sort of reptile predator, your system is based on a false premise. Of course, this, on its own, doesn’t mean that it isn’t a good program. But it comes off as ignorant when people make diets based on false premises (paleo comes to mind). [/quote]
Hunting is not always successful, so their bodies are designed to feast (eat a lot)or famine (eat nothing). Wolves can eat as much as 22 pounds of meat at a time and then may not eat again for many days. Wolves require from one to three quarts of water per day, depending on the size of the animal, the climate, and the moisture content of the prey.
Tigers usually gorge themselves at a kill, and they may not need to eat again for several days. If their food requirements are averaged per day over a year, female tigers need about 5 to 6 kg (11-13 lb.) of food per day and males need about 6 to 7 kg (13-15 lb.) of food per day. (6)
A lion will gorge itself, if possible, on a kill. An adult will typically eat 40 pounds (18 Kg.) of meat at a time, with reports of as much as 75 pounds (34 Kg.) consumed in one sitting. A single lion may take two or more meals from a kill over a 2-3 day period, while prides usually cannot get more than one meal for everybody after an average kill.

May i ask what you aim to achieve through this experiment? Do you believe it is the optimal way to eat/live, are you looking to see if this is a sustainable way of eating or are you testing to see if it possible to survive on this diet?
-
My main concern with your ideas is you seem to be taking a correlation= causation point of view with it and not looking at the bigger picture. Yes lions may not need to ‘warm up’ before a chase. They also dont spend extended periods sat down, driving, on the sofa, in a nice, squishy comfortable bed and a mainly sedentary lifestyle. This is just one example, they also sleep the required amount, arent exposed to blue light 3/4 of the day, dont take showers in water that is far to hot, dont experience the low level, constant stress most human do in day to day life.
Throughout this experiment, will you be applying all aspects of a predators lifestyle to your own, or only this very narrow aspect? If so, do you believe this is sustainable not only for health but for actually living your life?
Hope this doesnt come across as flameing.

Trust me in the 26 pages of posts this is one of about 5% that’s not calling me a skinny fat douche, so it’s anything but caustic and you actually have pertinent questions…
I’ve answered these before so I’ll cover them briefly…
-
The goal is to observe. I’m interested in blood work, vitamin levels, BMR adaptation, and body composition changes.
-
I acknowledge there are a lot of other differences and my exercise isn’t going to be close to what a predator would go through during a hunt, but the point was to see what happens if I get as close as I could model it.

Batman’s also an Expert Dieter. Seriously, the guy can live on nothing but bat-burgers, overcooked and with no seasoning for months on end. If that doesn’t mean that everyone should bow down and assume that such worldly skills automatically translate to other areas, then maybe you’re just not cut out for this.

Op, no one’s called you a douche. They’ve said you’re a li’l off, misguided and misinterpret information to see what you want to see, but not a douche. You are skinny fat though, so yeah.

Maybe step one would stop being a skinny fat douche.
Have you tried that as your first experiment?
Than actually take advice from people that are better than you.
Like better in every way.
Life
Health
SCIENCE
Diet
Lifting
Just a few suggestions.

Gotta love the ad hominem… The point to all this was the term “broscience” means to me.
I’m working on my form because I value it’s importance.
I don’t ignore periodization but yes I’m not using it now during the experiment. The experiment does have progression worked in similar to how EDT handles it.
I’m working on my strength through addressing form issues.
I’ve got to start from somewhere and right now it’s here. I’m doing the experiment regardless of how many people think it’s idiotic because I didn’t start it out of strength or physique goals. I can though use this time to address my basic lifts and get better so that later when I do include strength/physique goals I can make improvements.

I’m just trying to sum up a lot of the other negative insults with context such as arrogant, pretentious, idiotic, self-righteous, special snowflake, etc. To me when I think of all those things I think of the encompassing insult douche. On rare occasions I do go for brevity…

Playing the victim is a defense mechanism for those suffering from cognitive dissonance.

Victim? Naw… People have just been insulting me and I’m pretty sure I can say with honesty that’s not a biased or subjective assessment. Heh…
Submitting myself to it actually has purpose… I need thick skin about my experiments and I need to find out what people are going to attack. Between all the insults there has been a few pieces of great feedback.

I think overall, for what you’re doing and the site you posted it on, the response has been pretty positive.
There have been some OP thrashings on here and this isn’t one of them.

Agreed most of this has been just good locker room jesting. Busting balls.
Still think OP doesnt know WTF he is doing and should stick to programming code and not trying to do medicine or training.
But hey to train CF all you need is a weekend and a couple thousand dollars.
I suppose you do need thick skin if you want to…
- Continue doing foolish things
- Ignore advice that would benefit you
- Make yourself believe that useful information can be learned from your foolish actions
In your case, I really believe that “thick skin” is a synonym for “cognitive dissonance”, as the good Croat above already pointed out.

That wasn’t intended to be an insult. It was an honest assessment based on the available data. You’re skinny, have very little visible muscle and a paunch. That’s skinny fat.

x2.
-
You’ve gotten a lot of even-keeled feedback on your lifting form.
-
Several guys have said that they don’t agree with your approach, but they admire your dedication and/or are at least “mildly fascinated” by where it will take you.
-
The guys who have harshly disagreed with you have generally maintained a respectful tone. Calling you skinny-fat isn’t a character insult, it’s an accurate description of your body in comparison to many physiques built by posters on this forum.
