The Kai Greene Thread

good shit. legs tomorrow, think his latest leg training vid is up somewhere else now…think i’ll watch it and eat again. I don’t know the difference between a Saturday night and a Wednesday night, other than not working in the a.m., i like it that way.

just an observsation from a layman…the genetics and the dialed in diet and pharma and discipline of these top level BB guys is just unreal, they do not even look human.

damn. I am impressed and humbled at the same time.

I love the dichotomy of Kai.
Here’s a dude that’s gentle, sensitive, spiritual, artistic, yet he’s got THE most hardcore physique on the planet and the will, focus and determination that built it. He’s got that balance.

Strip away the trappings of modern life, then it’s easy to see what real success is. THAT’S Kai.

You are soooooo in looooooooove

And you’re not?

Between Kai Greene and Phil Heath, we have the most interesting bodybuilding personalities since Arnold.

Any that could have come close before were due to negative reasons…like Craig Titus.

They actually have the potential to turn more heads this way…and that is in spite of the “roidz stigma”.

I can’t say I actually cared about any other personalities save for Ronnie Coleman.

I completely agree with this.

Arnold had some huge shoes to fill in the charisma and personality departments. Plus, his sense of humor and joy in his pursuit went a long way as well with the public.

Ronnie had the humor and joy as well, but probably wasn’t “Hollywood” enough for widespread, mainstream acceptance.

I think if Lee Priest hadn’t sabotaged his own success, his charisma and persona would have made him a public favorite and ambassador for the sport.

Phil Heath has it all (good looks, well educated and articulate, work ethic, introspective, etc), but Kai is probably THE most interesting “character” in bodybuilding right now. And although I am certain he’ll take the Olympia in the near future, I sure hope the success of it all doesn’t alter his character.

Kai is a great bodybuilder and deserves all the credit in the world, but I just dont see him winning an Olympia. Heath is much younger and is still improving, and Kai is only getting older and does not have enough to overtake Heathe right now IMO. I think Heath will dominate the Olympia for the next few years and someone unknown or unexpected will take it after him.

I can’t leave a Kai thread alone can I? addressing the above ^ . I agree about phil dominating.

IF IF IF Kai cannot get the conditioning down. if he gets the condition down, he wins, he just beats phil at nearly everything…that is not a debated fact among those in the BB community. a shredded Kai beats phil over and over.

Kai a bit off, and if he keeps coming in 80/90% not sharper than or equal to phil…well the distance will increase and kai will become the boy who cried wolf so to speak, at that point, e.g. within a yr or two if Kai doesn’t DO IT. phil will put everyone in his rearview.

Kai posted these comparison shots of himself and Robby Robinson on his FB page, and he stated how great Robby’s back was.

Indeed it was!

I have seen that pic of robbie before but it is even more impressive when you make the comparison to Kai who has the best back in bodybuilding at the moment.
Just look how thick his lower traps are! he is shredded too, insane!

Why Robby never one an O is beyond reasoning.

Didn’t Robinson take 2nd in the heavyweight division on a couple of occasions? I recall him and Mentzer trading back and forth (1st and 2nd place) with several shows.

Yeah, but it was Frank Zane he lost to on both occasions. There lies the travesty.

lol

My guess would be because of his waist which people cared so much about at that time. That’s the only reasoning I can think of.

Marketing. Genius Weider realized a more “idealized” man in the minds of the general populace would sell bodybuilding better than an over-inflated muscle-bound dude.

Although Zane DID have a beautifully shaped and detailed physique, I believe he set bbing back a few notches.

This makes sense and sounds about right to me lol

I just hate how so many people think he was a God of the sport, he was good he had a great physique sure but yeah
