confessions…

trained for a whole two years without doing any internet research whatsoever, never even thought i might be doing anything wrong… trained chest at least 5-6 times a week( (seriously), went to the gym EVERYDAY n although i picked up some rather nasty upper back/ shoulder injuries i actually managed to end up pretty jacked

used to do bicep workouts where i would do 100 curls with a 12kg dumbell then 75 with 14kg, 50 16kg, 25 18kg and 12 20kg lol…and believe it or not actually got very good results

Chew on that one =/
lol this is somehow so true.

One I was thinking of. I really think delts make or break a physique. Seriously. Big round delts just recreate the entire flow and loo of a physique.

However, I think unless you have 1 in a million genetics, big round delts seem to belong to enhanced athletes more so then natties.

No matter how much progress I make it seems like my goals will never be reached (both in life and fitness).

now that I’m not ulta skinny or fat, I send slutty selfies out at least weekly

Dorian Yates was right…decline bench press is the best chest movement
Dorian Yates was wrong…upright rows are not a useless exercise

I think Prof X secretly does zerchers.

There is no such thing as clean eating or a clean diet.

This is kind of debatable.

Walking lunges in a parking lot in texas heat… deadlifting 800 x 2, 3 weeks out from mr olympia … etc

X2

Then when I do hit my goals im never satisfied with them

Branch Warren is the most overrated bodybuilder IMO. He is a terrible example. His form is atrocious and he seems proud to display it to everyone.

IIFYM was too much hassle for me. I think my current weekly macro approach is even easier and actually more effective.

If your biceps are bigger than your legs you had better be in a wheelchair.

Don’t wear a powerlifting t-shirt if you are doing squats in the Smith machine. I don’t care if you have 4 wheels on there. Also, don’t “box squat” in the Smith machine. It’s stupid.
I squat in the smith machine =(, but I wear Ninja Turtles Tshirts.
AAAAAAND your biceps are bigger than your legs. :stuck_out_tongue:

Back to the gym to do squats with the pink dumbbells.

I wonder if anyone else can relate to this…

Read an article by someone strong expressing something about training I firmly believe or have experienced – THIS MAN IS A GENIUS

Read an article by someone strong expressing something about training that lately I’ve had revelations about or is more like a hypothesis more than something I’ve really worked out yet – I’M A GENIUS

I didn’t start barbell benching or barbell squatting until 6years into my lifting career

I confess that:

 1. I’m giving up free weight benching for machine benching. I feel them more, can push myself more (no spotter on the free weight) and I think I’m already seeing improvement, :).

 2. ATG squats make my knees hurt (yes i do them correctly), sumo are better…might even try the smith machine to see how that version works.

 3. Don’t believe in bulking and don’t mind slow gaining; would rather eat moderate amounts of food than forcefeeding. I’m not going anywhere and in no rush.

Natural bodybuilding is like the paralympics. No one cares.

Performing and progressing on the big lifts(squat/dead/bench/row/OP/pull-up) is more important than chasing a pump for a natural trainee and athlete.

Most people who insult full body training have never done it. Most people who have done it have a very solid foundation for strength and performance.

I get really annoyed when people talk about “shaping” a muscle or training a specific way to change the way their muscle looks as if they have control over it.

Nobody cares how much you bench/squat/dead unless it is in a contest and then only the people in the room care. Consistent overreaching and over loading on lifts leads to injuries and thus people blamining a certain lift on pain and not themself for performing it wrong.

Cardio is really fucking stupid. Sprint, speed rope, punch something fast and hard, hit a tire with a hammer, or any other kind of conditioning to build work capacity. Burn fat with nutrition.

“Bulking” without assitance is really fucking stupid.

For some reason over the past 2-3 years I have lost my way with my beliefs and foundation for training, being guilty of letting the overwhelming amount of information and opinions change my approach to lifting. I am putting on the blinders and going back to my roots for 1-2 years, sticking to the basics, either full body or movement path splits, little isolation and lots of heavy lifting, 5x5 6x3 etc.

Lastly and somewhat related, anyone who has been training for over a year and still can’t bench there weight squat 1.5 and deadlift 2x needs to stop doing what they are doing and start over, this time giving guys like Rippetoe, Waterbury, King/Cosgrove(lol depends on your views on plagiarism) a shot and just lift some fucking Waittz.

Waittz not flaming just devils advocate for one and maybe some suggested reading on another

Shaping a muscle- I agree its most likely isn’t possible (without seo) but there have been studies that show differential recruitment of muscle fibers depending on exercise, angle ect. A hypothesis could develop from that it you preferentially fatigue and work certain fibers rather than others you may be able to “shape” a muscle to some extent

Cardio being stupid- A I consider the examples you gave to be cardio  I assume you mean LISS than. There have been some good studies showing gene activation for glucose management along with a marked increase in fast burning genes. Also csrdio fasted has been shown up regulate autophagy (cellular clean up and repair basically) as well apoptosis of damaged cells supporting health and longevity. Suppversity has some great articles on studies along with their FB.

Not flaming again just some info/thought prolong possibly.
