I don’t even try to hide it. But I also love imparting my bizarre sense of humor on my kid and watching it frustrate my wife.
I bought my kid some cheap knight action figure toys to play with. They don’t stand up well, because they are cheap pieces of crap, and you have to finesse them JUST right. My kid wanted to know why they don’t stand, and I explained that they didn’t have vaccinations in the feudal era and that the knights are all suffering from polio.
My wife then came by, having not heard the conversation and asked my kid if she was having problems with the knights. My kid said “Yeah, they don’t stand too good; they have polio.”
Having the house full of Halloween candy is the ultimate test of dietary will power. I’ve lost 7lbs this week and I’m trying super hard not to fuck it up lol
I don’t reckon it’s about using TV as an educational tool. I find kids are naturally curious to find out how things work so they are drawn to programs that tell them information about the world they live in. I don’t see it as educating them, but more entertainment that tells them something useful. They get enough education from kinder, school and reading time with mum and dad as it is.
