The Fitness New Age

Nothing but curiosity considering your few subtle digs at me over the past year.

If you don’t care to share pictures would you, acting like a grown man, tell me what is your gripe with me?

Hey Brick, I’ve been following that thread too, but don’t really have anything considerable to contribute other than to say you’ve done some good work man.

Your stuff over the last year or so has inspired me to seriously consider TRT and re-examine my attitude.

Thanks a lot!

Have you been diagnosed with low T?

Do you mean re-examine your attitude to this hobby? I remember you saying in a thread some time ago that you were burnt out with lifting because of the nature of your job.

No gripe whatsoever, BG. I find your 375 dead and 245 bench truly exceptional. It shows me what almost a decade of training, attention to nutrition and following the sport of bodybuilding can do.

I only wish we’d known how accomplished you are/were when we had received your CV a few years back. One can always wish, though (sigh)

Little insignificant incidents become huge deals… half of the crap I pulled in high school would probably net me jail time today.

Passive aggressiveness be for bitches man. Pull your balls down a little and come out with it.

And if you’re gonna shit on numbers, you better have numbers to back it up yourself. Otherwise the rules of TNation mandate that you’re just a jealous weakling. Strength is a skill depressionboy, never forget that. Brick could likely become stronger than me in a few months if he chose to.

I didn’t. I am genuinely inspired by his numbers. Why do you assume I’m not?

Do YOU consider his numbers unimpressive?

Question : When did I say I am not?

OMG, is that even possible? Wowza.

This is weaksauce.

Passive aggressive is not gonna fly.

Don’t be that guy.

It seems that the latest pop culture act is to follow big guys around and complain/accuse about steroid use.

Viewing videos from CT Fletcher, Kali Muscle or even the Hodge Twins seems to bring with them typical youtube comments that mostly range around call outs, insults and accusations.
The insults and call outs might result from some of these You Tube personalities providing nothing useful, or if they try to, do it in an incoherent, rambling, inarticulate, and THOROUGHLY IRRITATING manner. You might not find these men to provide information in this manner, but others do.
I am a little uninformed of why the opinion of some people means that insults and call outs are ok.

I don’t find CT Fletcher to be incoherent, rambling, inarticulate, and THOROUGHLY IRRITATING.

I do not find Kali Muscle to be incoherent, rambling, inarticulate, and THOROUGHLY IRRITATING.

I find them entertaining…so how does this justify the new growing trend of using youtube as a sounding board for mostly negative remarks?

Both guys have made more progress than nearly anyone who is throwing these types of comments it seems.

Well, I happen to see many accusations like accusing Kali of using “fake weights” and cluttering up nearly every youtube vid by CT Fletcher with roid comments.

It would appear to me that many could learn more by observing and noticeably gain less because they spend more time focusing on what they THINK can or can’t be done.

It just comes across like some sort of elitism or sour grapes if all someone sees is “incoherent, rambling, inarticulate, and THOROUGHLY IRRITATING” from guys who have done this much with their bodies.

Sorry to be that guy again, and as a “user” myself, I have nothing against him for “using” — butttt Kali’s 275 pound cheat curling video DOES use fake weights. Obviously some professional strongmen/bodybuilders have done a lot more but I’m referring to HIS particular video.

That said, I see no point in calling him out, even though I find it ridiculous. Like the shitstorm with the Shane Hamman bench press video.

Carry on.

I think the “that guy” ship sailed a while ago and he made sure to be on it. I don’t think he realizes he’s coming across as a bitchy 13 year old girl. Either man-up and say what you mean or STFU and leave the passive aggressive bullshit to the tweens.

I am just using the “fake weights” as an example since it was said that the poster above sees no accusations…when there clearly are some.

Most tend to spend more time focusing on who is natural or not than on their own progress and simply using these guys as motivation.

Maybe “hating” is the new “fitness”.

No one was doing this in the early 90’s if they were really into weight lifting. They didn’t spend all day worrying about who was using what. You used these guys as motivation and worked even harder on yourself.

It would seem that the internet has given voice to those who get emotionally aggravated by anyone who has done way more than they have as far as muscle building.

For instance, if you are still crying about a grapefruit when it comes to Kai Greene when that had to have been a decade ago by now, it would seem the focus is misplaced.

I dunno about anyone else but if you follow Kali Muscle. He has this message about positivity, non-drug use and stay the straight and narrow. And if you did mess up well there is still a way out. Well anyone with half a brain can tell he is on gear. You don’t get to his level of competition without it. So people are going to say practice what you preach. Gear is viewed as drugs to the general public. This also makes him look like a big hypocrite. So people specially on youtube are going to hate on him. And he kinda encourages the bashing.

Also he uses his channel and facebook to promote a charity to help spread the Kali message, and books about his life. I can tell you I would never give money to a multiple convicted felon. Specially in the name of ‘charity’.

But he does have some good points on working out. How to break plateaus, and myths about over training. Just like everything on the net look at it with a critical eye.
You just have to look past the “I don’t take steroids” disclaimer because that’s really all it is. It is probably not smart to openly talk about your illegal drug habit on a public forum like the youtubes… Especially if you are and ex-con.

Kali has a positive message and people should look past the drug use issue and focus on what’s really important.
I can’t do that, but I’m not posting youtube comments about these guys either. Sometimes one has to practice what they preach.

That’s the great thing about the strength sports. IS there a quantifiable way to compete against someone else, sure. But ultimately, the competition is with yourself. Can you lift a little more, move it a little faster, get a little leaner, be a little bigger than the last time? It is a never ending rabbit chase to constantly be a better self than the one before and maybe in the process, hold off father time a little longer.
You are raising a great point, especially in the case that many people refuse to do just this, instead seeking to tear down everyone around them while remaining the same, rather than rising to the level of others. It takes far more effort to make yourself better than to make everyone else worse.
It is also infectious apparently. I see “roids” thrown out always before “gee, that guy must work hard”.

It has become the new age way of avoiding giving someone who has achieved a lot any credit for it.

I have to admit this is NOT just a competition with myself.

My effort in the gym is a blatant attempt to avoid being another crab in the bucket.
Sorry, but I just wanted to throw this out there. I think steroids are far more important than handwork or dedication. I am pro steroids and they are legal here. I have seen skinny kids jump on gear weighing 120 pounds straight out of high school and within two years gain 40-60 pounds. These same guys are at the local pubs getting drunk, come to the local boxing gym and use the sauna and hit on the women at boxercise.

They are just fun dudes, mostly nerds who decided to get swole and had the spare cash to buy good quality gear and the food to go with it to grow. They don’t dedicate themselves to lifting, they shoot up large amounts of gear, eat lots of food, work out with the same intensity and regularity as the natural guys in the gym and the only difference is they gain way way quicker and their strength goes through the roof.

A guy here called Liam openly sells gear, he is a trainer and was natural up until around two years ago. He told us he was taking gear and he said it was what we all know, a miracle drug that will add mass on you no matter what.

The reason for the publics seeming hatred at figures like CT is because its not 99 percent hard work and 1 percent drugs. It is mostly drugs, with the same amount of dedication as most natural guys have, but they are silly enhanced.

There is nothing wrong with being enhanced. It is badass to look like you and be swole, it takes dedication yes, it takes planning, again yes. But to downplay steroids and deny they huge impact and place the reason for your size on hard work is a bit disingenuous. And when people like CT, with 22 inch arms deny anabolic use, then those people deserve to have some vitriol thrown their way. The same if I am born a millionaire and claim hard work got me my mansion, when i got it and the people in Compton who work just as hard don’t have a mansion.

No society isn’t just blinded by jealousy, no people are not afraid of handwork. They just don’t like being lied to.

Bingo.

Not to mention the idiotic act lately of taking pictures of yourself while doing illegal activities and posting it on facebook.

There are no “role models”…because no one can be perfect 24/7…and everything gets video taped and categorized.

Like the quote from Cabin the Woods…all of the cracks get filled in with concrete.

It seems to produce more disgruntled haters than motivated people who use what others have done to work even harder themselves.
Professor X wrote:

Opinions are like A-Holes… You know the saying.

Again, opinions are like… Well you get it. You opinion isn’t any more valid than anyone else’s and vice versa.

Progress in the gym isn’t the most important thing in life. In fact it’s far from it.

Kali knew what he was doing with the fake weights and So does Fletcher. He could disable comments on YouTube but he knows that comments = more traffic = more views = more exposure.

Aaaaaaanyway, this is the same old stuff that will never go away. People always take shots at other people and it isn’t going to stop. Just ignore the opinions of people you disagree with and focus on the positive.
gregron wrote:

This isn’t about having an opinion. It is about the need to use that opinion to degrade someone openly on a constant basis.

There is a HUGE difference between the two.
Progress in the gym isn’t the most important thing in life. In fact it’s far from it.
Who has said otherwise?

This isn’t about how you place all of your personal values. Kali Muscle has an autistic brother he has spent much time with. I am guessing his brother rates fairly high in his list of values.

So, question…why do you think admitting that they have done more in the gym than most throwing negative remarks has anything to with LIFE VALUES?

If someone places less value on lifting weights…then why spend any time at all tearing down someone who places more value on it?

I would say this is false considering the large number of people on steroids who are NOT that built.

We will have to disagree here.

And you are all adding to their popularity as we speak.

I find them entertaining and leave it at that.

If there is a kid out there being taught by youtube, there are far worse things for them to watch than guy like kali or CT.

Even a corrupt preacher can deliver good sermons. They have the right message even if they lie personally.

In one of the AAS studies didn’t they find people given steroids who didn’t work out gained 6-12 pounds of muscle? I am looking for it now and will post it up. I am pretty sure it was 6-12 pounds of LBM while living a regular, working, couch potato life. The people who worked out but were given a sugar pill or whatever it was gained something like 2-5 pounds and the people given AAS and worked out gained a lot more.

Will anyone who knows the study I am talking about post it? I think it may of been done in Japan.
