The Deadlift Race Thread

Is there anything more beautiful than that moment you get a new PR up and just soak it in for a moment? Stretch those traps and kind of do an isometric hold with your back…

AlexDZs video and todays PR made me think of that.

I swear I hear birds chirping, its so peaceful at the top.

Just deadlift. That article about assistance work is spot on. I’ve been making great gains recently just doing the main lifts heavy – throw in one extra lift for fun but that’s it.

Oh, and 405 to 450 is a 10% jump. If you add 5 or 10lbs each week, you’ll be at 500 in less than half a year. There’s no need to rush it.

I’ve done 425 before but that was months ago. I did 405 and it flew up so i hoped for a 25lb PR and failed mid shin. Tried again and barely budged it. Just to clear up

Just increasing the weight every week will not work for too long, I tried last year. I had just made a new PR @ 260 Kg and was going to try the method you mentioned to see if a different approch was going to make me stronger. Took two weeks of and did 5 reps @ 210, week 2: 6 @ 212,5Kg, week 3: 4 @ 215Kg, week 4: 5 @ 217,5. Week 5: 220 was nailed to the floor, couldn’t even get 1 single rep!!

Change it up a bit, do some DL-variation for 2-3 weeks and them swich to Good morning, hip-thrusts etc for a few week and then get back to DL.

Just DL-ing every week didn’t work for me. Right now I DL every 8 days with deload every forth week, aiming for 300 Kg by the end of the year.

I’m going to reference the previously posted article. Do you not bench to increase your bench? Do you not squat to increase your squat? Why would you not deadlift to increase your deadlift?

You probably failed so low on your shin because your speed off the floor sucked. Thats really the only reason that happens. Thats fixed by setting up tighter and making sure all the slack is out of the bar before you initiate the pull. If you dont do speed work, start. It will make a huge difference.

If you do speed work, get set up tighter and get the slack out of the bar on every rep.

No problem, I’ve seen this problem with several different people, me included when I started really working on the power lifts. Speed and solid technique fixed it for everyone.

I’ve decided I’m gunna go for 425+ next Tuesday. Pretty excited. Anything I should avoid doing till then?

FUCK ALL Y’ALL.

525lbs Sumo DL BITCHES :stuck_out_tongue:

Unconfirmed of course but I could care less right now.

Ahâ?¦ PRâ??s are beautiful thing. For a moment the world stands still as you are on top conquering above allâ?¦ and for a moment I felt like I had the biggest dick in the world despite what Jim Wendler may claim.

Pussying out :stuck_out_tongue: jk man

Don’t know what you should “avoid” but as a very general rule just don’t do any lower back intensive exercises the day before, like good mornings for 8 sets of 3 or something lol. But if you can, then more power to you and hey what the fuck do I know? Everybody’s different.

Lol

Right now it’s one of those weeks where you just know you are in a growth spurt after relentlessly pounding away at the body and it finally gave up and decided that adding muscle mass and strength is worth the extra metabolic demand… dunno if that makes any sense but in layman’s terms…

I’M TEARING SHIT UP THIS WEEK FOR NO REAL REASON BRAH

Dick is too big and gets in the way.

EDIT: I will, however, take you up on that challenge  As soon as I hit 545 on sumo, I’ll do it conventional.

I pulled 550 today. I’ll throw up a video as soon as I can. My friend took it from his phone so I just need to grab it from him. Straps and belt btw…

You are dead to me.
