The Deadlift Race Thread

I’ll join in too. I’ve hit 425 for 2 a few weeks back. I don’t feel like I was progressing fast enough so I switched to sumo rack pulls to work on my lockout since it’s my weakness. Monday was the second time doing them and I got 405 for 12. I’m doing full sum dl with 35 pound plates after that, GOT 305X10.

I have a vid of 460x2 over in the BOI thread. My deads should be moving on up once my back fully recovers.

^I just injured my hand…I should be alright in a week or two, it will give you a chance to catch up.

I got 400x4 today which is a pr for me when I pulled 445 my max was 380x5. Coming along…

I often caught my self thinking how in the shit is this skinny dude, relatively speaking and whilst being sexeh and whatnot, moving these weights.

yeah lighting can screw with things. I was thinking the same thing like shit no ways is he pulling 500 for reps. He is WAY more solid looking in that picture.

haha yeah, it looks ugly from the front. I think its MOSTLY the camera position though. I filmed my warmup attempts (390 & 455) from the side and they look fine. I posted both vids on my other training site for feedback.

I know my hips rise a bit too early though and I think I can correct that by arching my back harder at the start of the pull. I need to watch some more old Coan vids too since our pulling styles are similar.

But overall, i’m just not built to have a pretty deadlift! stupid long legs…bagh

My last meet, I DL’d 235kg, which is 518, in briefs @ 198. I’ll join the race, but i’m dieting at the moment, i’ll shoot for a max just before my surgery in July, until then i’ll plough along with 531.

Have you tried pulling with your legs closer together? You’re tall right – like 6’4?

I’m 6’4" and have had a lot of luck pulling with a pretty close stance (see avatar for my definition of close stance).

I pulled 225kg’s in late april (no vids, sorry) so…495ish.
Conveniently I’m just about to start a 3 month program for this exact purpose (well, I want to bench 140, squat 210 and dead 250 by the end of the year)

Worked up to 545 x 0 yesterday. Missed it twice. Went back down and got 495 again, 405 x some, and 315x enough to make my world fuzzy around the edges. I’ll have to try again in a few weeks. I was feeling strong, so I made a 50lb jump. Think I’ll try 525 next and see where that goes.

Hey jasmincar, if you could update, max right now is 445.

I’m new here but this thread sounds right for me. By chance I will be attempting by 1RM Deadlift tomorrow. So far my best is 350x10 (1rm ESTIMATE at 467) but we’ll see what happens. I would be very happy with a 545 pull in 3 months!
