show off! F you, you strong bastard lol

Please do share some of your training and background.

But F’ me, you joining this competition would be like michael phelps racing against 5 year-olds in the freestyle… in the kiddie pool.[/quote]

Kinda like that, but with less weed and car crashes.

My training is a disaster. I only deadlift heavy once a month, and its usually just reverse band deadlifts. Pretty basic speed waves every week with bands an chains.

My first powerlifting meet was in late 2005 and I pulled 620? raw at 275. I finshed up football in 2007 and then started really training for powerlifting. Since then, my best raw pull has been 744 and equipped 804.

Thats about it. I’d be more than happy to answer any other training questions. It brings a smile to my face that there are other people out there who give a shit about their deadlifts too.

I’ve been debating whether to create one of those gay “StormTheBeach: How Do You Train?” threads that all the BB guys use, but I didn’t want to put you on the spot…But now that I have, I think I will!

Alright, i’ll have a go at 545 by september 1st with video proof. I will use my straps and belt though.

Current best is 515 from last week with straps. But i am recovering from a badly pulled scapula/underlying trap muscle. So probably less now.

I think the contest is 545 so how about picking some form of deadlift you haven’t done 545 with. One handed? Frog stance?

As for me, I’ve been afraid to go heavy conventional since I injured my back (2004), so this is good. I’m going to try to get stiff-legged conventional 545x3. Last time I tried – about a month ago, I did 515x3.

Welcome. Maybe we should split this comp. into straps vs. no straps since grip IS a factor in the former group? Belt I could care less. What say the peoples?

Ok I’ll go first

What strategies or training change did you do once you hit that first “plateau” of gains for your DL? For me this 500 barrier is admittedly a little tough to break quickly. Did you eat your way out of it like a fat kid stuck in prison made of cake? Did you lower volume and up intensity (% of 1RM) for your sessions?

I don’t know if or when you have ever done so, but if you have hit a plateau before, I think it would be rather invaluable to all of the DL racers here.

Thanks.

^^I don’t know about that, a two people race is less interesting. The way I see it it’s more who will do it and who will not.Around late august I am gonna call out everyone who joined the race individually

Are you gonna post a video of your 500*3 Ahu or shall I list you with the people who dont have a video?

Alright, alright lol

I’ll get one this Thursday and have it uploaded then.

nice thread guys, I’ll be following along for sure.
wish I could play, but my DL is only 300

Shit I probably do too much running to get it by September 1st. Also I am going to be backpacking this summer so that will kill it a little too. I’ll get as damn well close as I can though!

Well I don’t have any videos, but I think this photo was the 462lbs for mine.

I’m so pretty…

Might as well count me in even tho its a long shot. I dont have any videos right now so a picture will have to do. This is from my first meet two and a half months ago at 165lbs 19yo. I originally only signed up to bench press and they convinced me to to the three lift. Note the glowing sneakers haha. This was my first ever attempt at a max deadlift 440lbs, I’ve since jus missed 465, so chalk me up for a 450lbs start. I’ve been working on my form and can’t decide to pull conv or sumo hopefully this helps me in my quest for a 500+ deadlift.

Best of luck guys!

I’m in. My goal is 585 for my first meet in October. I will beat all the local records, 560 squat, 463 bench, 583 dead. I have been doing rack pulls with 585 moving it down a couple of inches every other week always afterME squat. Currently about 5 inches below knee. Smashed the palm out of my hand last week, once I can grab the bar again, I’ll see where I’m at. Until then, straps and hooks for me. I’ve pulled 495 from the deck plenty of times so that’s what I’ll claim as a starting weight.

Also, I’m buying a metal sumo deadlifter this summer (for my meet) but I’ll pull my 545 with nothing but chaulk. Looking forward to the group motivation. I will be TAD at Ft Lenard Wood all summer if any of you strong guys in the show me state wanna take me in for a deadlift session. Also, since there are legitimate strong and experienced powerlifters in here, anyone pull in a centurian wide stance?

Bit of a long shot but count me in.
current max around 450ish, should be a little higher but got a minor back injury at the beginning of the summer. Kept me from pulling for a couple weeks.
have a meet on Aug 7th.

Was motivated to go for a max pull tonight. Hit 495x1 with a little to spare. It looked easier than it felt:

545 is gonna be a challenge…

Mid-shin deadlifts last night.

485x1 50 lbs PR

That’s basically a stiff leg deadlift, man! Keep those hips down

515lbs for one buddy! Not exactly the 500*3 since I couldn’t take the vid.

Only 30 more pounds and I’m there.

Only pic of lockout. Couldn’t find the damn camera on the way out lol.

Nice work. Now take a rest for 6 months.
