Did you get it off the ground? Where were your sticking points and how do you plan on fixing them?

I’m going for it tonight and we’ll see what happens.

It didn’t get off the ground… I just need more time. I don’t think I have any major sticking point that needs to be fixed now.
BTW congrats for the 465*9, that’s big.
You 5-3-1ers are redic, I’m pretty sure that I couldn’t get more than 8 reps with 405. Can’t even imagine 465*9.

Update: shit did not budge. I went in doubting myself and that should have been a sign.
My problem was keeping the abs tight at the very top set. Everything else up to that point flew up rather easily. I dunno about the more experienced guys but I’m beginning to think that on the days that I am drained due to work, less food etc., I just cannot maintain that tightness and transfer force appropriately when it comes to max sets.
Is it just a technique issue or is it just that abs aren’t strong enough?
In any case, 2 or 4 more weeks for me before I bring it back again… Jasmincar you and I are still running lol
On the sidenote, if I feel like ass just from the lack of sleep and recovery for a few days, I have no idea how the top guys cut weight, dehydrate, and then, due to dehydration, don’t sleep, then go move massive amounts of weight… just more appreciation for the sport in general now lol

Technique is never good enough.
Abs are never strong enough.
Seriously, this isn’t an either/or question. You should probably focus on both.

Good points.
Figured I’d give it a shot today since you guys tried it this week too. Did it after my 5/3/1 squat workout. It felt alright, back was definitely fatigued from squats, felt my upper back roll forward, but other than that it felt pretty good. I am doing a meet in Sept and would really like to pull 630, I was able to find my weaker points from the vid and hopefully I can fix those and get my weight in Sept.

Yea that’s great, so great that I just have to comment on it even though a bunch of people already did. ![]()
Ok, 180kg (~400lbs) for 10 reps: 180x10 Deadlift on Vimeo
Not really satisfied with the form on the last few reps but I just wanted to do at least one good set since I had a hard time with motivation. If anyone’s got any advice or thoughts I’m listening.

Nice pull!
OT: are you a VanValkenburgh? You remind me of my good buddy. Except he doesn’t really lift lol.
Hey duodie are you going for 545 by september 1?
BTW I hit 515*1 today, could have done for 2 or 3 reps if I had recovered enough from last session. I am decreasing the frequency again.
oh i wish i could go for 500+ but im taking it easy since my injury,i didnt try to go pass 490 since then.Im using a slow but safe progression(+20pounds/week on the wx5x1)
520*1 today and quite an ugly, I feel like I am starting to hit a plateau but I really don’t give a shit I am gonna push it to 545 before september.
anyone have updates?
I did 535 at a WNPF meet on March 27th, so I’m only 10lbs away. Can I still enter this race? I will be attempting 545 one week from tomorrow, August 1st, in the gym. After that, the plan is to pull 545 at a USAPL meet on August 28th.
