The Danish Viking: back to 531: Road to 2-3-4 Plates

Very true, diminishing marginal returns happen very fast with work

Especially weightlifting!

I swear if there was an auto shut off button on me at optimal work I’d do half the volume and make twice the gains :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Keep up the good work Mort and stay safe and healthy. I’m a bit nervous for you heading back out on patrol, but someone’s got to keep the hooligans in check!!!

I’m starting to think I’m definitely getting the virus at work. I’m kind of torn with how to go about my business. My work is important, but not vital. I’m not sure if I should continue as usual or stay away from people as much as possible.

My wife and kids don’t have to leave the house except to get outside and keep their sanity. I’ll be bringing it home with me. I just hope we’re all strong enough to fight it off with limited suffering.

Case #1 was identified here on Thurs night or Friday morning and #2 was just announced last night (Saturday). It’s started…

My biggest fear.

Stay away as much as possible. No need to take a risk with your family.

@muskratlifts I know so I’m chipping slowly on the workouts.

I’m sticking to my plan, working out every other day, with some occasional running in between.

That’s just about it, we take our precautions, washing and using antiseptics a lot.
I’m not too worried should I catch the virus. I’m very certain I would go through it, so would my family, most of it.

My mom is old 86, and she has just got some sciatics pain in her leg and lower back, and can’t move around.
And she can’t get to any massage or pt or anything. That is really annoying, had it happend before the corona thing, she would have been on her feet.
So that’s my main concern right now, going to see her just about every day. No hugging or anything.

@Frank_C we are in the line, but we are needed and as long as we take care, we should be good. We’re still the good guy. @ChickenLittle Staying away as much as possible, is what we have to do. Family for the win.

Btw how to you hold a couple of fiances away from each other 18 and 19 years of age. They just got cleared by us parents to see each other after a week off.

Treat them as one person. They’ll both be sick or they’ll both avoid it.

Stay safe, Mort. Strange times

What she said. If you have the ability to stay away from people, you should do so.

That’s what we will do, but they both live at home, by us and by her parents.
Now they are together after a week of separation, happy couple.

The primary problem is if they are meeting with other people. Who are meeting with other people. Who are meeting with other people. Who are meeting with other people.

Obvious to us, but hard to drill into the skull of younger people. If it is just each other they are meeting up with, it should be fine.

They are smart ish they are not very sociale. not so Common these days

My oldest is 17 and an otherwise smart kid. But it took him a while to realize he has to be more carefuly. He works down at the local store, in proximity of customers.

I think a lot of youngsters starts to think a little about it.
But of course some doesn’t.

That’s the issue at my work. We have a few loose cannons and who the hell knows what they do on their time off. We work in close-ish proximity to one another, so I’ve been avoiding seeing them all last week.

@mortdk @Frank_C stay safe guys, thanks for everything you do.

Are you still considering BtM mort?

Thanks man, I’ll do what I can to stay safe.

Ohh yes, but not until after summer, I’m doing 6 cycles of BBB first two cycles is 5x10, then 1 cycle 5x8 then, 5x5, 5x3, 5x1 starting at about 50% of TM working in 10% jumps each cycle to 5x1 TM.
Taking deload every other cycle og so.

There have been MANY ā€œolderā€ folks that I’ve spoken to who also are also not taking it seriously. I don’t think that younger people should take the blame for the current situation. It is just a certain % of people, in general.

No, you’re absolutely right about that, and even a lot of older people themselves are perpetuating the problem. My wording was just meant as an ā€œobvious to you and me specificallyā€ kind of thing.

All good man! I didn’t mean to sound confrontational, I’ve just been trying to correct people in my social circle recently for making broad negative generalizations of groups of people which is not productive discussion. :+1: We all need to stay positive and work together through these crazy times!

Todays training: Bench PR + OHP 5 x 10

Viking 531 BBB

C2W3D2

.

Bench

  • 5 x 60, 65, 72 kg

  • 1 x 80 kg

  • 5 x 80 kg + 8 x 65 kg dropset

OHP

  • 5 x 12 @ 30 kg

Supersetted alternated between bench and OHP

  • BB row 6 x 10 @ 52,5 kg

  • Bench ab tuck 6 x 14 reps

.

Giantset

  • DB Bent reverse delt raise: 8 kg’s 18, 18, 18 reps

  • push up: 13, 13, 13

  • KB swing 3 x 11 @ 20 kg

.

48 minutes + 10 minutes warm up.

Bench topset was actually for once quite good and strong, I might even have had another rep in me. + 1 rep on both the topset and the dropset compared to 3 weeks ago.

OHP 60% 12 reps, the last set the last 2 reps were with leg drive and ugly AF but up they got.

Giant sets was good. BB row was good.

I’ll be back on the streets Friday, looking forward to see my friends at work.

I’ll keep the percentage on bench next cycle as well.

BBB calls for 1 cycle of 70% 5x8 I’m thinking I’ll stretch it a bit, I’ll do a cycle of 65% 5x8 then 70 5x8 then 75 5x5, 80 5x5, 85 5x3, 90 5x3, 95 5x1, 100 5x1

That way I’ll stretch it out even more, slowing the progress down.

For the main sets I’ll stay on the weights until I can dominate the bar, or at least not feel crushed by it.

The government is holding the lockdown for another 3 weeks till after Easter. Lots of small business companies gonna suffer they say they’ll provide help for them, I certainly hope so, otherwise this virus thing is going to make a big impact on everybody.

Me and the missus are fortunate though, she’s the only one on her job, assembling medical stuff for diabetics, the rest is working from home.

Why have you been home? Is your Department just rotating you guys from home to the streets to minimize exposure?
