With all the other fights going on and new ones being announced, I forgot about a good one. Jose Luis Castillo and Diego Corrales is coming up pretty soon. Do not miss this one guys, should be a great fight!
this will be a great fight and probably won’t go the distance. castillo has the better chin and a little more pop, but corrales seems rejuvenated as of late. a barn burner for sure, i’m leaning towards castillo just based on his toughness.
tito is a great puncher and for a lefty wright is easy to find…yet hes tough and hungry…tito is such a great short puncher and inside fighter wright needs to keep moving and not try locking up or smothering
What do you people think of Gatti-Mayweather?
At first, I thought Mayweather, no contest, but Gatti seems to have something up his sleeve. He says that Mayweather has a glass jaw, like his uncle Roger, and father, Floyd Mayweather Sr.
He’s never been hit hard on the chin before, so I guess it’s still untested.
I love Gatti, but Mayweather will totally dominate him. I don’t know if Mayweather has a chin or not, but it won’t really matter if Gatti can’t catch him with anything.
barrera, second round destruction in case anyone missed it.
mayweather vs. gatti based on skills is a no brainer pick for mayweather to win. although i’m not sold on floyd’s power or chin at 140! i doubt he’ll hurt gatti, and i know gatti can hurt floyd…shouldn’t matter anyway, PBF should dance circles around gatti. he’d be an idiot to make it a war. my heart wants a gatti win (which is possible, but not likely) my head says floyd all the way. mayweather by UD if gatti doesn’t get cut up first.
What do people think of the Mosley fight this weekend against Estrada. On paper I think Mosley beats him easily, but I’m beginning to think he is a shot fighter. So what do you think, is he shot, or can he revive his career at welter? If he has anything left I would love to see a Mosley vs. Judah matchup.
On a related topic, what role do you think Mosley’s association with Balco and Victor Conte(if you know what I mean)had to do with his success moving up from lightweight?
Now that Mosley beat Estrada, he has a chance to fight Judah.
That’s a tough fight to predict in my mind. What do you guys think?
I would give it to Judah based on youth. Otherwise, they’re both fast guys.
I heard Arturo Gatti’s next fight is in July against Mayweather Jr. Is this info correct?! I’m from Vero Beach where he trains I want to know so I can go watch him spar & workout. It’s a sight to see! He & his trainer are the cooliest!
I’d like to see Mosley have at least one more fight before he takes on any of the beltholders at 147. If he looks sharp in his next fight I would take Mosley over Judah mainly because I think Judah’s chin is questionable.
Yes, Gatti is fighting Mayweather next. I would love to see Gatti pull it off and he always has a puncher’s chance, but more likely Mayweather takes a lopsided decision or stops him on cuts. Don’t let the Gatti/Ward fights fool you Gatti cannot outbox Mayweather, his only chance is to make it a brawl. Floyd is too smart to be suckered in to that kind of fight. Floyd’s handspeed and good lateral movement will give Gatti major problems.
For anyone out there who is a boxing fan or has any friends or loved ones who are boxing fans. Please pray to the boxing gods that James Toney puts us all out of our misery and knocks out John Ruiz this Saturday. If I never see a Ruiz fight again it will be too soon.

i have a mutual hate for both those guys, so without any bias i think the “quiet man/huggy bear/jab and grab” john ruiz will probably take this one. ruiz just flat out finds a way to win…although its boring as hell to watch. plus i’ve read that toney is out of shape (more than usual) and has an injured bicep coming into this fight. i also think loudmouth toney grossly overestimates his ability at heavyweight. this is one fight i will not pay to see.
Looks like our prayers have been answered. Too bad though that Toney didn’t knock out Ruiz. Oh well. At least I don’t think Ruiz will get any more air time now that he isn’t the champ.
What do you think of Toney-Vitali Klitschko?
I’d say Klitschko by knockout. Totally different class fighter.

BTW the date for Gatti/Mayweather is June 25th.
Thank you!! I can’t wait to watch that fight. And please don’t tell me it’s not HBO again??!! Fuck! I don’t have it, toooooo expensive, & none of the sports bars around has it either!!! They say to have HBO for them is tooo expensive! Which is total BS. How else can I watch this fight?!!
ALSO, about a little over a yr. ago while watching Gatti train, another fighter was @ the same gym training & he also sparred w/ Gatti.
His name was Ricky Gutterrzza or something like that, it’s a latin last name that I know I’m not spelling correctly. You guys really seem to know boxing so I thought I might run that name by you to c if maybe u have heard of him.
This guy was a lefty, lightning quick, his speed was amazing! And after he sparred w/ Gatti, ( note ) he got some punches on Gatti too!
he came over to my dad & I and we all talked for like 5 mins. He was the nicest guy!! Friendly as hell, he was like 33 if I remember right, he looked like he was 24! He also said he was gonna try to go down a few divisions.
Anyways, Ricky from what I saw was a total badass & one of the most exciting fighters I had ever seen!
Do u guys know who I’m talking about?? I would like to watch him kick some ass & follow his carrer. Thanks!
The good news continues! After the fight Ruiz announced his retirement.
Although I think Toney is a better fighter, Vitali is just too damn big for James. He might have some early success if he can get on the inside, but Vitali’s power would be too much. Speaking of inside fighting, did anyone get a look at how badly Ruiz’s body was bruised up from Toney’s body punching?
BLW: Hate to break it to you, but all Gatti’s fights are on HBO. He has a contract with them so he would need their permission to fight on a different network. I’ve never heard of the guy you mentioned, but I’d be interestd to know more about him. If you get a chance to talk to Arturo or Buddy, be sure to let him know there are lots of loyal Canadian fans rooting for him to shut Mayweather’s big mouth.

Cool, I’ll say that to him! He’ll get a kick out of that for sure! I’m going to keep looking for that Ricky guy! He was badass & such a nice guy. I believe he said he was from the Miami area.
ok, so toney beat ruiz. i was puzzled with ruiz’s gameplan, he totally abandoned the style that has got him to where he is/was. needless to say …trying to be more “fan friendly” in the biggest fight of his life cost him his BS title. good riddance. i have a feeling we’ll be saying the same about fat fuck toney very soon too.
I totally agree about Ruiz’s fight plan. Maybe he just figured that with his size and reach, boxing on the outside would allow him to set Toney up for a right hand.
I also have to agree about Toney being a fat fuck! Did you hear his excuses after the fight about only having 4.5 weeks to prepare because the fight was announced on short notice. You’re the number one condender ya lazy bastard! Get your ass to the gym and wait for the fight to be announced!
On a more positive note, I heard Castillo/Coralles lived up to expectations. Man, I wish I lived in a decent fight town where bars actually showed to good PPV fights. Nowadays, if it’s not Tyson or DLH fighting, nobody is showing it. At least HBO PPV’s eventually show up on TSN a week or two later.
