Judah v Mattysse
Pacquiao v Margarito
Martinez v Williams

The Judah fight I don’t really care about. I think he’ll win, but he’s not fighting the best yet. And when he does, the real Zab will show up again.
Pac Margo… I’m not sure about that fight. I think Pac is too fast, and they’re only fighting because Bob Arum is going to make a shitload of money off it because he promotes both fighters. Margarito doesn’t really have a great shot. He’s not going to get knocked out, but he’s too slow and Pac isn’t going to get worn down like Cotto.
Martinez Williams, now that’s a fucking fight… I like Martinez alot, and these cats can bang out with the best of them. I like Martinez again, although I wouldn’t be surprised at all if Williams wins. They’re very, very evenly matched, and both are southpaws.
Marquez- Katsidis- Fun fight, it will be entertaining, but I don’t expect Katsidis to last more than six rounds with a fighter of Marquez’s caliber unless JMM gets old literally overnight.
Agree with pretty much all of this.
I think Margarito is going to get knocked out. Maybe corner retirement, just can’t see him withstanding the onslaught for a full fight… yep, I think the only person REALLY excited about this fight is Bob Arum’s bank manager.
I see Martinez winning because he wants it more than Williams does. Paul badly wanted to avoid the rematch.
At Marquez’s age getting old overnight is a very real possibility. And anything can happen with a big puncher, so Katsidis always has a chance.
Anyway, hopefully someone with more controversial opinions will step in, or we might have to start discussing the heavies
LOL. Good man duff.
I worry about that too with Marquez. I thought it was happening against Diaz last year, but Marquez is such an incredible boxer that he put him away. The footwork is perfect, he’s really one of the most underrated fighters of this generation.
I love Mexican fighters, they’re the most fun to watch. not like those fuckin 7 foot commis.
I agree with both of you guys…sux i know
Also… i read that HBO had to pressure Paul Williams to fight Martinez again, and apparently HBO is in Martinez’ corner since he is a potentially a more profitable attraction
Bute just produced a good win against Jesse Brinkley. Any thoughts on his standing in the Super-Middles? I do like good body punchers.
Oh, and I hope Froch/Abraham both connect with punches at the same time and kill each other. I always disliked Froch, but after Abraham’s cheap shot on Dirrell (possibly ending his career) I have lost all respect for him as well.
Anyway, I’d guess Abraham by decap.
Super Six seems to be finished. I hope its run of bad fortune doesn’t prevent the networks from picking up on what is essentially a good idea.
I like the idea but it was taking too long to play out, and the idea of double elimination drags it out WAY too long.
Single elimination, take the four best fighters in the class, fight over the course of one year. They were close with that idea but not there yet.

The only other network open to a tournament is HBO and I really doubt they’d use the Super Six format, probably double elimination. However it’s quite difficult to make these tournaments so I doubt there will be another one in the future.
I believe Abraham will beat Froch, Froch isn’t a very good boxer and will probably tire himself out. Abraham has the power to stop him and I believe he’ll win by TKO.
I think Bute is one of the better fighters in the division but his reputation is built on fringe top 10 fighters and bums. I rate the Super Six fighters ahead of him due to their willingness to prove themselves, realistically though he’s probably top three behind Ward and Abraham. I think he’ll be exposed by the winner of the Super Six.

You’re probably right about another tournament being unlikely. One can always dream.
I think Bute will beat Abraham, badly. Not only do I think he is a better boxer, but I think his style will play havok with think King. Ward is a whole different ball game though. With his good mate gone, it’s hard to see anyone beating him in the near future. Still, “theatre of the unexpected” and so on…
For all those interested, Katsidis’ brother has died but the fight with Marquez is going ahead. Whether this will stop him in his tracks or he’ll doing something Buster Douglas-esque is up for debate.

Bute has only faced fighters outside the top 10 and cans, there’s a tremendous difference between dominating B and D fighters and dominating A fighters. Personally, I feel Abraham, Ward, and even Dirrell would beat him. I think any of the top fighters will expose him as a good fighter and not “The Man” at 168, I do think he can beat Froch and Kessler though.
There was going to be a HBO 140 tournament but Bradley didn’t like the amount offered. However, once the Klits retire don’t be surprised if there’s an HBO HW tournament LOL.
Here’s the first 24/7. for those that missed it. What does everyone think about this? It’s always hard, because they can slant this any way they want… but Margo looks good. He’s a tough cat, but I still don’t think he’s got the necessary speed to beat Pac.
But is Pac looking just a LITTLE arrogant here?

Whether Pac is letting his congressional duties get in the way of his fighting or taking the threat of Margo too lightly, it is a minute factor compared to a MASSIVE LAYOFF. Margo always has a chance, but it’s between slim and none. This might be a case of “the less you know the more you know” LOL.
Prediction: We will see a lot of things hinting at Pacman’s desire to trade with Margarito on 24/7. Nothin’ like gettin’ d hype train a-rollin’!
And on to important business…
What will HBO call a HW tournement?
“Battle of the Bums”?
“King of the crap”?
“Survivor of the Slag-heap”?
I’m hoping “zombies of the dead division”.
I don’t give Margarito a chance in this fight. He’s going to have to drain himself to make weight, has lost a step, and has always been a pressure fighter. A drained faded pressure fighter isn’t exactly what will be beating Pac.

How about just going with, “Well it was good ten years ago.”
Maybe margarito can do a good fight. It’s going to be hard to survive… But maybe he could give us a surprise.
Hype?
Manny Pacquiao’s camp expressing concern
Wednesday, October 27, 2010
The Record
NEW YORK â?? Former middleweight champion Kelly Pavlik and undefeated welterweight contender Mike Jones joined promoter Bob Arum at the Friars Club on Tuesday to discuss their fights on the Manny Pacquiao-Antonio Margarito undercard Nov. 13 at Cowboys Stadium.
The conversation inevitably turned toward Pacquiao (51-3-2, 38 KOs), specifically Pacquiaoâ??s reported problems preparing for his junior middleweight debut against a big, strong, rugged Mexican attempting to repair his damaged image.
Arum admitted that he was concerned after a recent visit to Pacquiaoâ??s training camp in the Philippines, where Glen Tapia (7-0, 5 KOs), a junior middleweight prospect from Passaic, more than held his own against one of the top two pound-for-pound boxers in the world. Even Freddie Roach, Pacquiaoâ??s primary supporter, admitted on HBOâ??s “24/7 Pacquiao-Margarito,” that he believes Pacquiaoâ??s election to Congress has hindered his preparation for Margarito (38-6, 27 KOs, 1 NC) more than they expected.
Panicking Filipino fans and media members are concerned that their countryâ??s answer to Muhammad Ali cannot continue a dominant run the southpaw superstar started after a split-decision defeat of rival Juan Manuel Marquez (51-5-1, 37 KOs) in March 2008.
“To some extent, it was accurate,” Arum said, referring to Filipino media reports regarding Pacquiaoâ??s preparation. “But, you know, thereâ??s plenty of time for him to get ready.”
Or so he hopes.
Pacquiao is the flagship fighter for Arumâ??s promotional company, which also represents junior middleweight champ Miguel Cotto, undefeated featherweight champion Juan Manuel Lopez, Margarito, Pavlik, and about 30 other fighters. With undefeated Floyd Mayweather Jr. entangled in a legal mess stemming from his domestic incident last month in Las Vegas, Pacquiao is boxingâ??s flagship fighter, too, the only boxer “60 Minutes” profiles and Jimmy Kimmel regularly invites to his late-night talk show on ABC.
A loss to a 5-1 underdog would make Mayweather-Pacquiao pointless, even if the most popular boxer in the world loses in a competitive fight. It would cost everyone involved in the sport, including HBO, tens of millions of dollars.

I think it’s hype. Pac is going to be in California for a month leading up to the bout and I think Margarito has faded enough so that even if Pac had a weak camp in his home country he can get ready for the fight.
That and Arum has worked the media before and the thought of an upset is better than having a bout like Pac/Clottey. I don’t think casual fans want to see him walk through somebody and the stories of a weak camp means the “king” can be dethroned.
I think Pacquiao is probably having a bad camp. I think that they will only get worse as time goes by. It will eventually prove impossible to be a top level figther/singer/basketball player/congressman/afternoon radio talk show host.
But I still wouldn’t put a cent on Margo.

If they stayed in the Philippines I think Marg could pull off an upset, just a slight chance. Since they’re going to be in LA for a month Pac will be free of the distractions and Roach is going to make him focus 100%. I think so anyway.
That and Margarito is still about 170 pounds and has lost a step, he’s going to be a drained pressure fighter that doesn’t apply pressure.
I just noticed on a boxing site that the PacMan-Margarito fight is at a catchweight of 150 lbs. That would normally be fine, I don’t care if PacMan makes Margarito weight 150 to get the payday. My problem is that the fight is for the WBC Jr. Middle title which has a weight limit of 154. I just think it is bullshit that Manny is allowed to fight for belts in new weight classes and potentially break records for number of different titles held, but his opponents have to come in under the mandatory weight limit. The weight classes in boxing are already pretty close as it is. He should fight one of the Klitszchkos for the heavyweight title and make them fight at 162.
