You can say all you want about Joe Calzaghe- he was far from great last night, he knows that himself, but the fact is, he is 45-0.
I’m sure once he beats another big name next he’ll make people like you eat your words.
Exactly. Mikkel Kessler is better than B-Hop right now, better than Pavlik, and better than Jermain. Joe beat him. Joe would embarrass any of the cast of fools out there left. Failure to recognize that is just petty hating. You can hate his slap attack all you want, but it’s funny that you gloss over B-Hop’s “LUNGE AND CLINCH” for 12 rounds that made that fight a bore.
Let Joe make his money and fight RJJ. Hes earned it, he’s the best out there.[/quote]
Kessler is better than BHop, and I did watch that entire fight. Calzaghe deserved that one- he beat up on Kessler.
And don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying BHop won that fight, because he didn’t. Hopkins fought a crappy fight and, although I honestly love dirty fighters, I wasn’t impressed with the fake low blow bullshit that he pulled.
But Joe looked bad last night. I’m not trying to hate on the fucker- like I said, I think he’s a humble guy, and he’s a southpaw (I always love fellow southpaws). As a person, he impresses me in the same way that Hatton does.
But I still believe his tactics fool judges into thinking he’s winning when he’s really just throwing a bunch of slaps that aren’t doing anything. That’s not what boxing should be about.
And honestly, I think Pavlik would knock him out. If Hopkins put him down in that first round, then you’re telling me he’s going to be able to stand up to Kelly’s 1-2 for 12 rounds? I think not.
Taylor he might beat, but it’d be a far better fight than the atrocity we saw last night (and it was like that because of both of them, not just Joe). A fight with RJJ would just be waste of time.
Not saying I wouldn’t watch it, but you get my drift.
