Hatton Vs. Mayweather.

December 8th! Let’s go Ricky!

LOS ANGELES (AP) - Welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. will defend his title against Ricky Hatton on Dec. 8 in Las Vegas.

The site of the fight has not been determined, Golden Boy Promotions said Wednesday. It’s a matchup of two undefeated fighters, who are a combined 81-0.
“I am extremely excited to announce Golden Boy’s involvement in another boxing extravaganza such as Mayweather vs. Hatton,” said Oscar De La Hoya, president of Golden Boy Promotions. “We are proud to continue to provide fans with the best matchups and fights in boxing today.”

Mayweather (38-0 with 24 knockouts) will be fighting for the first time since his victory over De La Hoya in May.

“I am the best fighter in boxing today and I’m prepared for any challenge my team puts in front of me,” Mayweather said. “And with Ricky Hatton, it’s already personal. He has talked and disrespected me so much in the past months that I can’t wait to get him in the ring and show him he is not even on my level.”

Hatton (43-0, 31 KOs), from Manchester, England, has fought once before at 147 pounds, winning the welterweight belt from Luis Collazo in 2006. He moved back to 140 pounds and captured his third world title. His most recent victory came in four rounds against Jose Luis Castillo in Las Vegas in June.

It is a dream of every boxer to fight the best boxers in the world," Hatton said. "I respect Floyd Mayweather immensely for his boxing ability and it will be an honor to share the same ring with him.

“He is rightly regarded as the best pound-for-pound boxer in the world. However, I am confident and determined that I will be the first boxer to beat him in the ring and I am looking forward to this fight.”

The fight will be shown on HBO pay-per-view.

I would have liked to see it at 140…Hatton is best at 140.

Wow, 2 undefeated fighters going toe to toe! Should be a good fight.

So much for Floyd Jr’s retirement lol.

I love how Ricky fights, but Floyd will demolish him. Too quick, too skilled, and just too damn good for Ricky. Mayweather is in an entirely different league than anyone Hatton has faced.

I’ll be rooting for Ricky, but I see Pretty Boy finishing this fight before the 10th round.

I don’t know if toe to toe is how I’d term any of Floyd’s latest fights

Pretty Boy will win a wide UD. Too much speed. Hopefully Ricky does his down and dirty shit and gives Floyd lots of hell. Ricky was in a tight battle with Kostya until he threw in the towel, and Mayweather does everything that Kostya did but better (except finish fights).

The fight I’m super pumped for is Taylor vs Pavlik. Dear God I hope Pavlik kills him.

Ricky’s going to lose… Did you see his last fight at 147? The difference in power was extremely evident, Hatton just looked small and didn’t have enough pop in his punches. Mayweather has that pop and with much more speed an acurracy.

The only advantage I see Hatton having is his style. He pressures (read: Bulls) his opponents and that is the style that gives Mayweather a lot of problems.

But I can’t see Hatton winning.

Floyd in a unanimous (and lobsided) decision.

I agree that Hatton didn’t look good at 147. However, I think that with his style of clinching and then battering could wear Mayweather down.

A couple of those shots to the liver might make PB’s eyes widen… and maybe slow him down so Hatton can get some good cracks.

I have read a couple things that are comparing them stylistically to Frazier and Ali.

It does? Most of Mayweather fights that I’ve seen anybody that tries to pressure him gets knocked out. The only person that didn’t get knocked out was De la hoya, and he got frustrated that he couldn’t hit him.

Not a fucking chance. This will be Taylor’s 1st fight in a long time where he won’t be fighting a smaller and/or defensive minded fighter. He will let his hands go and Pavlik’s face will look like hamburger meat when it is all said and done.

I agree Kelly is a big underdog, but I must quantify my hopes around the fact that I am a Youngstown native and Pavlik is the local hero who we get to drink with every weekend at the bars.

I want to see Mayweather get his ass kicked but I just don’t see it happening. I see Mayweather winning in the later rounds. Go Hatton!!

I must agree with what most have said already… Mayweather by UD.

Could be a good fight, I’m looking forward to it. I also expect Mayweather to win but I think Hatton is a live underdog.

I became Ricky Hatton when he beat Kostya. I’d like to see a rematch by the way. I think Mayweather will have the answers but I hope not.

Speaking of Kotsya Tszyu, as much as I dislike Judah, this always makes me laugh:

I love that one. The funniest part is that Judah maintains he was right to continue and the ref shouldn’t have stopped it.

The Judah dance is almost as great as the Klitschko dance.

You were saying there, Bert Sugar?

I hope Hatton does Mayweather’s head in,but I just don’t see it happening.Hatton’s style suits Mayweather down to the ground.

But I live in hope!
