And fast forward 2 years +heavy stretching+finding key exercises and progressing on them
Scott, just for clarification, doesn’t Dave Henry also train DC style?
Yes he does but his back was never a weak point. It has gotten wider and denser though along with the rest of him on DC. His best improvement has been in the leg department.
Scott, i was looking in the site, i have a question.
Those extreme stretches, can i do those after my NON DC program ??
Will they help…
Cheers for all the help and advice btw.
Yes you can. Do it after the bodypart is fully trained.

No doubt, he’s looking quite a bit denser from as close to the last two years.

Ok will do, how long do you hold each stretch ??
60-90 seconds is the norm. It should be VERY hard.
I’m interested in the stretches too, is there a website that lists them if it’s convienient for you guys or i’ll do some searching.
What do you mean is should be hard ???
Like for the chest stretch, do i pick a weight i can barely hold for 90 sec in that position ??
And bicep its intensemuscle.com
Home of DC training
I still use extreme stretches from time to time even though im not training dc. its extremely useful when it comes to recovery as well as giving you the nice “pumped” feeling!
extreme stretches are suppose to be hard. to me, it shouldnt be just pick a weight that you can barely hold for 90s, it should be something where after 45-60s, you feel like you cant do hold it no more, but you just keep forcing yoursel and telling yourself to hold on for longer and longer despite the intense pain from the stretch, then when its over, the feeling is great
And if you cant see the pictures go here:

It isn’t like a light passive stretch you did before practice in high school. This is heavy weight fascia stretching eyes watering style stretching.
For chest try 1/2 the weight you can dumbbell press for 6-8 reps and get down DEEP into the stretch. Lower into the bottom position, get the chest up high and try to continually drop the elbows down lower and lower.
Ok will do, so if im not in pain… im doing it wrong !
Cheers
Just be conscious of the difference between good pain and bad pain. Joints=bad Muscle=good
Personally, I cry during the chest stretch. ![]()
And that pic of Justin is NASTY.
