The Bodybuilder Bunker

Welcome the THE bodybuilding thread. Lately I’ve been sick of shit not related to Bodybuilding in this forum, and I’m going to change it. There will be no talks of TBT, Chad Waterbury, 5x5, 3x10, “fancy” exercises, or “fancy” terminology. There will be no logs. There will be no critiques of your routines. If you do talk about that shit, you will be flamed to death and/or ignored.

This thread is for STRICTLY BODYBUILDING AND BODYBUILDERS.

There WILL be talks of recent events, the latest trends, the latest supplements, if certain exercises hit certain areas better, etc. All shit related to BODYBUILDING.

To start this off, I would like to talk about Victor Martinez and Phil Heath. Of course we know Martinez is outta the Arnold, but are the two gonna be at the 08 Olympia?

To get this thread rolling more, I present to you the 2008 IronMan Pro:

I hope that both men compete. Who knows about victor tho. It was a patellar tendon tear am I correct? That’s a pretty nasty injury to try and come back with hopes of taking the O. Who knows tho. I can’t wait for the battles between heath and wolf start spurring up as many have predicted. I hope my boy Dennis takes it this year and in years to come tho. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: lol

Gerdy

I heard Victor wasn’t competing. That pretty much means Dexter and Heath will be going at it for top spot in my opinion…unless Wolf surprises me.

My boy trains with Vic on occasion…he’s still stewing over the loss to Jay last year…does anyone know when he had the surgery? It might be enough time to be ready for the O.

Ronnie Coleman will be on American Chopper on TLC tomorrow night for the unveiling of the BSN chopper…the shows at 9 p.m. est.

I wasn’t sure exactly why you dismissed Wolf, but I just checked him out a little further on Youtube and I agree with you. He’s missing some mid-back and lower back mass. That said, he looks fantastic from the front.

I know some people never come back all the way from that surgery. It was a torn patellar tendon right? I’d probably count that quad out if he does compete. It also depends to what extent the tear was. When I watched the arnold live online Chich said that he had the surgery already. So he had the surgery sometime before the arnold. Some of those types of injuries can take up to 8 months to a yr of rehab to get back to normal if the person get’s back to normal at all. So if it’s that long of a rehab this doesn’t even count training and prepping for the Mr. O contest. I doubt he’s competing.

X: ya I’d place those two at the top but really it’s anybody’s game. Cutler may come in and shock everybody but I doubt it. I think that he will be dethroned this year. There is too many other good competitors.

Heath, Dex, Wolf are at the top of the pile but a few others I noticed this year.

Warren–looked awesome at the Arnold especially having some sort of problem with his kidneys a few weeks before the show or something.

Samuel–I’m a fan but I don’t think he has what it takes to be the Mr. O but still a stiff competitor.

Cormier–supposdly back in action. I haven’t seen him this year but he has had the potential to win it in years past.

Johnnie Jackson–Milos Sarcev has helped him out a lot and I’m a Milos fan since I trained at his gym for a while and will be back down there in june lol. I don’t think he has what it takes to be the Mr. O either but definitely a threat.

Melvin Anthony–not Mr. O quality yet but is a threat.

Freeman—still can’t rule him out. lol

We are still 4 months or so out from the olympia so who knows what kind of packages these guys will bring. I’m plannin on going and I can’t wait.

It was around Jan. 18th. I HIGHLY doubt that’s enough time.

All I’ve heard is he dropped out of the 08 Arnold. Here’s something to see of Wolf, X:

So far looking impressive. We’ll see what he brings to the table.

U guys here about Hide?

Supposedly he was caught with steroids at an airport…

Personally, I thought Victor had it in the last Olympia. Ticked me off a little. If Dennis Wolf can get his lower back and calves down, then he’s set. It would be awesome to see Dex, Heath, and Wolf up there.

Yea, but he got off the hook, except for a charge of having Viagra without a prescription, LOL.:

Phil Heath is awesome. That is all.

Looks like he brought up his biceps a bit which he needed as well. Calves are still lacking, but it’s more of a secondary issue IMO. He’s still got a bit of a narrow lower back, but it gives him such an amazing v-taper it’s nuts. His lat spread blows me away.

This is a branch off of the Olympia, but what does everyone think of NSAID use?

I usually take Ibuprofen to deal with my soreness at work, and so far I’ve not seen anything affecting my gains.

Who else takes ibuprofen?

I’ve been taking four 200mg Advil liquigels per day for a few years to help with moderate to severe ankle pain. I’ve had three surgeries so far, and they really seen to help reduce the pain as I’m on my feet at work for 8-10 hours a day in dress shoes on a hard surface. I find that the liquigels, specifically, help reduce pain for me. The only issue is that they can lead to stomach pain if I take them without food or too close to drinking alcohol.

Ya man I definitely agree.

I take ibuprofen when needed but “they” say that it slows or inhibit protein synthesis and that’s something that I don’t want to do. lol So I only take it if I think I have injury. As far as just muscle soreness from training I just drink water and stretch it out/tough it out until it goes away. lol

He used the defense attorney Shawn Chapman Holley. As far as ibuprofen use, maybe I should do the same and don’t take any unless of injury.
