How bout sumo pulls for you back/ham guys.
Never did sumo pulls to be honest. I heard it’s great for the hams though. Personally, I like SLDL’s although I haven’t done them in forever. I think it’s time to take my own advice and incorporate some fresh hammy exercises.
Someone previously asked what you guys eat before bed (or for your last meal of the day). I didn’t read many answers for it and was wanting to give that question another shot.
Anyone? I usually have a scoup of protein powder, a serving of peanut butter, and about 5 fishoil caps around an hour before bed.
On an unrelated note, I was able to post in the T-cell alpha forum an hour ago, now I am denied. Did I get kicked out?
If not, some chicken, some eggs, some peanut butter, or some BCAAs will do.
I usually don’t eat within an 1-1.5 hours of going to bed though since I really don’t need to go to sleep on a full stomach to gain weight like some guys.
But because of that I like having solid good so it digests slower.
When I’m bulking I’ll do 30-40g of pure casein protein in water right before bed. Some sites even sell those 12 hour muscle feeding protein shakes that are supposed to take 12 hours to digest and have a shit load of aminos and what not. Dunno if the statements are true, but I’ve tried them and I feel regular casein works just as well.
As far as eating before sleep is concerned, I generally stick to casein or some sort of cheese. I need to get back on cottage cheese but unfortunately this last year I got drunk one night and ate cottage cheese and got sick later, so that ruined it for me. (Good thing I don’t drink anymore…)
Sumo pulls, for some reason, just don’t do it to my hammies. I know a lot of guys get leg work out of deads alone, but I generally usually feel it much more in my entire back area. (Upper / lower / all around.)

I don’t want to hijack the thread, but I have been asked by several folks to move the Bunker to the T-Cell Alpha forum.
I’d like some input, as I have been told that the forum probably won’t get moved unless the members decide it needs to be moved.
Since some of you guys can’t post in the other forum yet - this seemed like the logical place to ask.
I think that if all of the members of the alpha who post here still post in this thread regularly and almost monitor the thread to make sure that it doesn’t turn down the wrong path, then leave it here.
If thats not the case then I’d say take it there because the topics discussed in this thread for the most part should be discussed by the majority of people who are, or near, qualified to be in alpha anyways.
I think that this thread should be 100% no-bullshit hardcore bodybuilding. If you don’t desire to be the biggest motherfucker in your gym with the most muscle then this thread wouldn’t be for you. I’d hope most alpha’s feel this way and I’d love to read and learn their opinions .vs. just your avg joe.
i usually make a protein (casein) shake an hour prior to sleeping and drink it along with a couple of fish oils and zma.
when i was trying to gain weight, i ate cottage cheese and drank milk prior to sleeping lol now that i know better, i’d probably opt for the carb free milk.
i was crazy on milk when bulking, drinking 1 gallon a day at 1 point. that is, until i turned lactose and began shitting like crazy everytime i drink past 1 glass of milk…recently i discovered lactose free milk! they are a bit pricey though…
does anyone know if lactose-free milk is just as good as regular milk? i have them in plan for my next bulking phase >=]

well, im having trouble sleeping, so i thought i would throw another question out there.
Most over rated exercise
lat pulldowns…the lats can get hit with sooo many better exercises yet you see a bunch of people still doing them. I personally only use them at the beginning for a warm up or the end to burn them out. I’d never include them as part of my staple back builders…
pull-ups, chins…under rated because everybody is on the lat pull down. I think these are 2nd to deadlifts for overall back builders…
Keep in mind, this is for bodybuilders, not powerlifters, football players, etc.
most over rated? hmm imo would be crunches lol every1 does it and does all of them get abs? nope
most under rated? tough one… i would say hack squat. great quad builder! not to mention improve grip strength!
i saw the topic on t-cell about ways to train back, it’s too bad i cant post there but what are you guys take on it? its my main weakness.
my opinion is depending on goal, back width or back thickness?
For back width, hands down definately rack chins! Work up to a heavy set follow by stretching it (hang on pull up bar with weights attached; got it from DC training)
back thickness, deadlift and rack deads are king of back thickness exercise. the heavier you pull, the thicker your back gets =]
kroc row sounds interesting…20 rep db row definately have to try that one out!
my weakness is arms, somebody tricked me into not working arms at all, only compounds, and it gave me a 300 pound bench press and 14.5 inch arms.
Luckily i changed that.
Over rated: Bench press, as a chest builder. I think it did more for my shoulders personally, crunches definitely go on my list as well
Under rated: Hammer Curls, i know it seems weird to put a arm exericise as under rated, but i really think this is an exericise that can put some well placed meat on not only the upper arms, but the forearms as well.

I’d like to throw out a discussion:
In body part splits: some combinations seem kind of stupid or backwards. Such as chest/bi day, back/tri day. Now I have used those along with just upper body push splits, upper body pull splits etc.
I’d just like to hear the reasoning for some of ya’ll combining A primary mover (chest) with a secondary antagonist mover (bi).
I actually use these splits, and have been very happy with the gains I’ve made using them. Here is why I chose this route… In my experience, the smaller muscle groups respond better to more frequent stimulation, and they recover faster. So by pairing chest/biceps and back/triceps, I’m effectively training bis/tris twice a week…and it doesn’t pre-fatigue me for heavy sets on my larger muscle groups.
following the small muscles/frequent training theory, I try to get one shoulder movement in each training session and keep it down to 1-2 sets. Not convinced this is working as well as it could; but it seems to fit into my schedule best this way.
So my split actually looks like this:
Tues: Chest/Bic/Shoulders
Thurs: Legs/Shoulders/little ab work when time permits
Sat: Back/Tric/Shoulders
If I miss a day for some reason, the other two workouts become full body splits for the week.

yes the brachoradialus gets hit hard from hammer curls. If you think you hit a plateu with either strength or size in the arm dept. then add these. I get my straps and hit 3x8 with 85lbs. Talk about a pump. lol

dont forget pinwheel curl! it gave me a super great forearm pump and build up some trememdous size

So, outside of protein powder and creatine, which i pretty much consider food, what is a supplement that you wouldn’t give up?
Spike for me, both the shooter and pill.
i’ve started over the past months to incorporate waxy maize starch into my supplements after reading and article on here about justin harris “the bodybuilders diet coach”, where i went to his site and there was some free info on WMS and a really good post-workout protocol. but besides that i defiantly have to say bcaa’s for my other supp i wouldn’t give up.
I’d like to see this thread moved over to the new T-Alpha section. What better way to test it out? There’s nothing preventing a BBBunker Lite from starting or the thread making the move back to here. Just knowing that there’s a place to aspire to be should stop most of the silly-ass questions we get here. I’m not that old, but back in the day (5 years ago) people would take the time to explore a new site and learn a bit of the culture/posting rules before making their first post. I think having a tiered structure could go a long ways to improving T-Nation.
