I vaguely recall, back in the day, being told by my gym teacher in high school NEVER to wear jeans while lifting.
Today I was wearing jeans, and was basically just pissing around with my 10-rep back squat max after a front squat workout. I still felt fresh, had a few minutes to kill, why not, right?
Welp, as I got back up over the sticking point, what do I hear?
RIIIIIIIIIPPPP.
And a cool autumn wind sensuously grazed by my ass cheek.
I burst out laughing, and almost had to dump the god damn weight over my head. Didn’t even bother to finish my set; I was laughing too hard. I just went upstairs and showed my sister.
Now, it wasn’t like they were super-tight or anything. They were low on my hips like I normally wear them. I’ve squatted in them before, with much heavier weight, and no problems.

You know it took some 10 year old kid in China a week to make those jeans, right? Way to go you ungrateful bastard.
better that kid get paid to make these jeans than be on the street not getting paid
For years I never would have lifted in my jeans; now do to time constraints of work and family, I have to fit my workouts in as my schedule allows. My last project put me within walking distance of my gym, so at times I was able to squeeze in a quick workout at lunch.
In trying to be brief as possible, including the changing of my attire, I worked out many times in jeans. I don’t recommend squatting or cleaning in jeans, I had two blowouts myself, but I will never deadlift again without wearing jeans.

Who in the hell wears blue jeans while lifting? I’ve never seen this in my life.
Is it some USA thing? Its shorts or tracksuits 100% in the UK.
I can’t say I’ve ever seen it, but I’ve got an old pair of carhartts that are way too tight. I was gonna give em to the poor, but now I’m wondering if they might help me add some weight to my squat. Sweet, hello home made squat suit!

Do you guys change your shirts?
Do you sweat when you train?
WTF?
My thoughts exactly. I would be grossed out if I had to leave the gym without showering. I usually have a noticeable sweat circle in the front and back of my T-Shirt, so imagine what it’s like between my legs…
Not showering after lifting is unhealthy. But not breaking a sweat when lifting is weak, weak as a mosquito’s fart in a hurricane.
