I vaguely recall, back in the day, being told by my gym teacher in high school NEVER to wear jeans while lifting.
Today I was wearing jeans, and was basically just pissing around with my 10-rep back squat max after a front squat workout. I still felt fresh, had a few minutes to kill, why not, right?
Welp, as I got back up over the sticking point, what do I hear?
RIIIIIIIIIPPPP.
And a cool autumn wind sensuously grazed by my ass cheek.
I burst out laughing, and almost had to dump the god damn weight over my head. Didn’t even bother to finish my set; I was laughing too hard. I just went upstairs and showed my sister.
Now, it wasn’t like they were super-tight or anything. They were low on my hips like I normally wear them. I’ve squatted in them before, with much heavier weight, and no problems.

What exactly did you show your sister?
I am thinking about switching to overalls.

I always break a sweat Bro.
It’s kinda funny though, I remember years back when I didn’t. That was when I walked around in my size medium shirt, chest bode out like a game-rooster thinking I was somthing, after I finished my everyday bicep workout… Now, I usually sit in the corner, slumped over, thinking about my next battle(set), while filling out my XXL shirt.
Anybody else ever think about how it was when you started. Alot, of times now I SMIRK ar these people, but then I remember doing the same thing.
I only wear cutoff jean shorts when I’m doing a M&F workout spread. That outfit usually includes a buttonless flannel shirt with the sleeves ripped off and some Wolverine workboots.

Of your jeans or your sister?

Whether or not I would want the sister depends on if she is hot or not…
Are you guys from West Virginia by chance?
Back on topic, I will lift in jeans on chest, back, arms, shoulder or option day. I typically wont wear jeans to workout on leg day. My gym really doesn’t complain too much when people work out in jeans, and for anything other than legs, it is pretty comfortable.

Aren’t you suppose to have a matching headrag??
Do you blue jean lifters intentionally wear them when you train or is it only in case of emergency?

How do you like your fanny-packs?
Black Leather or Lime Green Nylon?

Intentionally.

I agree with this, I used to exclusively do upper body work in jeans. I don’t see the problem. If you can move around freely during the day, why can’t you press or row in jeans?
I won’t, however, squat in jeans for the same reason as the OP. The ass ripped right down the seams.

Both. It started out of convenience and become an issue of not caring.

Why can’t I just shower at home?
No experience squatting in jeans, but I squatted down at a huge trade show in NYC to pick up a box and my dress pants ripped from the underside of the crotch all the way to the belt seam.
It was only about a 10 minute walk to get to an exit…
this pisses me off…my gym is walking distance and i used to pop in there after going to the post office a few times a day and do whatever just to keep the blood flowing . and i’d go in there with whatever i had on , often jeans. it was wicked convienient. i didn’t wear jeans for my workout proper or other than going in there for anything more than a warmup to the day or some light grease the groove cleans or pullups or something…i mean there you are sitting enjoying some coffee and you know there’s a bar and some cookies just around the corner…how can you NOT go in and mess around
? anyway now there’s a “policy” that jeans aren’t allowed. wtf ? what fucking difference does it make ? what a bunch of stuck up bitches.

Agreed. At first it was always proper attire then one day I forgot my pants. Trained with jeans on anyway, and after that it really didn’t bother me what I had on.

Same deal. I typically have to move tools and shit out of the way before I work out, and put them back again after, so it’s just extra time for me to put on a different outfit. Think I’ll stick to shorts or sweats from now on, though.
I dunno that I got any more poundage out of wearing jeans while squatting, but I might have. Maybe if you put on like three super tight pairs, it could work.
“Hey guys, check out my new squat suit! It’s TRIPLE DENIM.”

Here’s the pic.

I personally can’t stand people who act as if they need to shower at the gym. Unless you are going to work, to a club, or getting laid DIRECTLY after leaving the gym, showering at home just makes more sense. I would rather not lather up in the presence of a few million foreign bacteria and fungi all for the sake of just saying I showered when I can just do so at home.
Half of those people spend more time in the men’s room than they ever do lifting weights to begin with. If you spend 15min lifting and 35min taking a shower and blowing drying your balls in the mirror, you have your priorities in the wrong place.
