The Bench Press + Basketball

I was always told the bench press was a key exercise in strength, now i can’t deny. It did develop my chest strength, but it done absolutley nothing for me on the basketball court!?. so am i making a huge mistake in not bench presssing anymore?, or is a basketball player’s strength development, ok without it.

You were told wrong. Chest strength is overrated, especially for a basketball player. The most important muscles are in the legs and the lower back.

That doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t do anything to develop your chest. Just don’t concentrate on the chest alone.
