i know lots of u guys on here think basketball players are scrawny and stupid when it comes to lifting, but ive been extremely dedicated to lifting, staying in shape, and my diet and it seems the hard work has payed off,
however, I’m playing even more basketball this off-season (aau) but im also trying to add some strength during the off season to help improve my jumping, agility, and my game. This question may seem a little vague, but does anyone with experience on this subject have any good advice.
For me, my lower body strength is what I am worried about the most because basketball calls for so much running. Any input is greatly appreciated.
Well when I played summer ball last summer, my legs took a pounding playing multiple games a day and playing lots of minutes.
That being said, I still lifted weights (the basketball program at my school doesn’t know shit about weight lifting). I just stuck to my normal program and just tried to get rest after long and tiring weekend tournaments.
For agility just do some ladder drills I guess. I’m doing track right now to build up some stamina, a better first step, and just overall better speed. If you need clarification, just ask, I’m vague sometimes lol.

Perhaps an over-prescribed program, but only because of its effectiveness: Articles Archives - Official Website of Joe DeFranco & DeFranco’s Gym!
