30 is an…interesting…birthday. It inspired me to make some major career changes right before it, on the same grounds as you…wanted to have my shit together on that day.

But honestly. 30 sounds really young to me now, so its all in your perspective, aye?

Moving to a more upper-body-centric training style during your footie season makes a whole lotta sense. I do find that heavy squats and deads messes somewhat with my bicycle riding strength. But I don’t care because I just dabble in cycle, while you have a reason to care about your sport.

Hey Everyone! Thank you all for the b-day wishes. Just a few more days! I already have several dinners planned with friends and loved ones, so I’m looking forward to it :slight_smile:

Greenie - the cake was deeeelicious (See pic!), except the icing slid off with my friends name on it, so it just said “Happy Birthday”. Recipe is oh so simple! I’ll PM it.

I’ve still been training on the reg which is good. I’ve switched gears a bit tho and decided to go for my 1RMs. This way I can get an idea of where I am before I go into soccer season. So I’m currently working on that. You’d be surprised how hard it is to wrap your head around singles.

Anyways, here’s where I am:

Bench - 3x105 < I’d be happy with 1x115. Its doubtful.
The bench continues to suck my balls. Let’s just say I haven’t stalled, i basically plummeted. All that accessory work didn’t do a thing.

Chins - 7, 6, 5, 4, 3
NG Pullups - 5, 4, 3, 3, 2
PG Pullups - haven’t done yet
These are up and feel strong. I’m happy. Its slow progress, that’s for sure.

Squat - 3x175 < I’m shooting for 1x185.
I fixed my depth problem. Went back to 135 and did high reps till I got the “feel of it”, jumped up from there. I tell you now, I hit parallel but that’s it. I know it ain’t right, but i just want to see how much weight i can move in “good” form.

Dl - 5x200 < I REALLY want 230. That’s also a stretch, but why not.
We’ll see what happens. I need to remember to keep my stomach tight.

I also want to Snatch 40lbs. I can rep 6x30, but when i get to 35 it all breaks down. I’m going to see if Victor will coach me through it. I’m sure with his help I can get it.

So that’s it! I’ll have videos of said lifts soon enough! And maybe even a little surprise for you all…

Your goals look really solid. Impressive. Your weights have jumped up quite a bit!

Nice update and Cake! for the snatch think of throwing something rather than pulling it. made a world of a difference when I understood that.

I forgot to say - Greenie, the conditioning work is a lot of plyometric stuff like burpees and squat jumps, as well as a lot of agility and sprint work…ugh! its fun, but killer. I’ve been bad lately and have been doing any of it. Bad Masch!

Anyways, I went in last night for some random stuff. Did a short circuit, box jumps, and then I tried that mock prowler on the treadmill (a la Snapper) - pushing the belt while the machine is off. Did it tabata style 20 secs on/ 10 secs off. I was panting!!! Loved it.

I am gonna have to try that treadmill thing, just for the looks I’m bound to get from the cardio crowd.
