The Beautiful Gain

Nothing exciting to report re: training. Took friday off entirely. Then went in yesterday to do some rehabby type stuff. Foam rolled, did some super light soccer warmups, tested out the hammie (RDL stretch is a definite no-no), did eliptical for 10mins and then some light stretching.

Following Bobbi’s rec and after e-speaking with Jim, did some shoulder prehap that I followed from this vid. Gonna hit pilates now. Things are getting better slowly bur surely.

Quick update:

Didn’t make it to pilates but did make it to the gym. Easy peasy stuff.

Foam rolling
Soccer warmups < can do a little more - able to jog
Abs workout
10 min recumbant bike
Foam rolling
Stretching < also a little more aggressive than yest

And now as a last tribute to winter and in order to beckon spring i’m going to make a nice lentil and lamb stew - thickens the blood!

mmm lamb. my fav. when’s supper? kthxby!

Maschy’s making us dinner! Yeah!

What time should I drop by?

I’ll bring teh boooze…HEY T, best pick for lamb? Shiraz? Suggestions? Ain’t had a good one recently except Layer Cake.

Good way to get back…nice work.

I wanted to do sports PT crap in college but am a bad student,
so I took a massage license instead, that and getting ‘old’
are helping me figure out a few things,

that glutes firing properly fix knee tracking , and that healthy hips help the glutes fire better
the more glute stuff I do the better my knees and ankles work.

I have a thread in the over 35 called mobility for old farts
its just a collection of links of good stuff.
like some of the drills you might do for footie, or stuff from magnificent mobility and others

glute bridging aka air humps unilaterally and bilaterally help allot
so do any kind of squat to stand drill
I notice lots of people who’s feet point out , mine do, lots of dancers do, and so do lots of soccer player
it has to do with having big/good quads and tight hips.

thats my 2c… and what is with the shit rain???

Hahah! Come on by anytime ladies!

kmc - thanks so much for sending me over to the Mobility thread! You’ve got some really good stuff in there. In case anyone else hasn’t visited - check it out. Great ideas to add to warm-up.

I’m so with you on the added glute work and its funny you say this about the knees b/c every once in a while i do get tendonitis.

Lol! I was actually born pigeon toed and had to have it corrected with little booties that were attached to a bar that pointed my toes out (please try to muffle your laughter) - my mother would say that at least she knew when I was coming because she could hear me dragging the bar across the floor (sad and creepy!). Anyways, all this to say that I still slightly toe in, especially when I’m fatigued.

Tell me about it - this rain blows!

just a FYI, if you are having knee pain check your psoas strength, amongst many other things.

Hey girl, did I miss dinner?? Damnit! Lol it sounded yummy… So how are your hammies feeling today?
Wanted to let you know I worked those damn Bularian jump lunges, the long step forward lunges, and the DB swing chops into my program. The Bulgarian things are hard, between balancing and having to jump while trying to have the correct form…and at first I couldn’t do too many reps, but I’m def improving! It feels really good. Thanks so much for the suggestions!

hey Masch…glad your hammie is feeling better. i better go check out this mobility thread.

mmmmm, lamb. i’m no sommelier, but yes, a nice shiraz (syrah) would work. maybe even a roubust sangiovese.

Alright y’all - just want to give a quick update. Went to practice last night to test out the hammie - basically Sunday’s game is completely out of the question. In fact, I’m not really sure when this is going to heal up, could be a week from now, but most likely will take more.

I’ve decided that I’m going to take some time off from the gym and lifting altogether, and then ease back into training within the next month or so - so I won’t be around PW until I’m training again.

Thanks again for the well wishes everyone! I’ll see you all soon!!

Happy lifting

:frowning:

As much as it sucks in the short term that you’re not able to train or play, I’m sure it won’t be for too long, and your decision to back off from the training is a very smart one! Stay healthy!

:frowning:

x2

Heal up quick!

sorry to hear about the hamstrungs.
sucks to miss, but its always better to take off.

I did smile at the bar and corrective shoe things

The mobility stuff is really just stuff I found that works or helped with crap I got.

feel better soon

Thanks guys! Recovery is pretty slow actually, but I’m doing alright.

Still going to ART and still relatively active in terms of doing lame shit like walking and foam rolling. I finally went back to the gym yesterday for upper body - it was pretty good. And today I went to soccer practice and did some light running and passing drills. Good news is that it forces me to play with my left, which needs the practice. But still I can’t do much more than 1 touches.

At any rate, I did good at soccer. didn’t over do it at all. good news is that i will miss one more game, but then the week after that we have no game. so i get 2 more weeks to recover, and only miss one game. But the coach said that i shouldn’t get my hopes up, because he only plans on playing me for the last 15mins of the game :frowning: meh. makes sense though. so its cool. i said i could be a clutch player like carlos tevez. cuz i’m gangsta like that.

Talk to you soon!!

some posting hiatus youre on.

'sok tho, glad to hear things are getting better for ya, even if its slowly!!

Maschy, it sounds like you are being very smart here. Keep it up!
