What are you taking pre or during your workout to keep energy levels up? I find that on days like back and biceps, I am so crushed from all the back work that bicep work doesn’t get the attention in deserves. What have you found to combat this?
I dont have a “Pre workout.” My snack before a workout currently is normally 2 scoops of whey, 1 scoop of Synthax, and a banana, as my first snack of the day im either at work or in school, so i dont really have time to sit and eat. I do however take a during- 2 scoops of Anaconda + 2 scoops Surge workout fuel. Back when i was doing my major split, to where id have back/shoulders on the same day, id bump the scoops up to 2 1/2 or 3. I know how you feel, but say before i was using the Anaconda combo, i would basically just power through it. I would always think back to my favorite animes, think about how they pushed through so much, about the torture that they barreled through, and id basically use that. I know it was stupid and childish, but it got me motivated. Mentality is a powerful tool.
Absolutely right! Whatever it may be Anime, books, Movies whatever.

For me it’s Viking/Battle, or any type of Thrashy metal. Love that shit!

I also drew some inspiration from books to get that last rep out. When I went to Greece I went to Sparti, saw some Ruins of Sparta. Saw the ancient Spartan Stronghold Mystra built on a fucking mountain. I mean people back then lived this shit, I draw strength from it.

Akuma, I see you’re using some Anaconda during Workouts, have you used the full protocol?

This thread got me all fired up, might have to go do active CNS recovery today!

The pics in my Hub are 3 months ago, so they are the most recent i have currently. I believe a couple of them show my big, round delts.

I have. I put on 20lbs using the full protocol twice, jumping from 230 to 250 . The problem i had with it was i would get so damn bloated. The 3 FINiBARs and the 2kML of drink, + water that i would drink at the gym made me feel so thick. I liked having the During workout drink tho, so after the protocol finished, i basically just bought Anaconda and Surge and started mixing those 2, and id normally only fill it up to 1k Ml (On some of my longer days that would require me lifting over a couple tons of weight, id bump it closer to 2k)

Yes, im eating, spelling can wait.

Ouzo is good stuff, tastes a lot like sambuca!

Wait… did you really just use two different SI prefixes to cancel each other out? What’s wrong with just saying litre? lol

Well im hovering around 255 right now, after coming from that off week that i kept carb cycling through. Im guessing im around 18% bf atm, so assuming i properly cut, im thinking i can drop maybe 30lbs of pure fat, maybe another 5 for water weight. So id be on stage at around 220. All in theory tho, never really will know until i get down to it.

First of all, it’s been a good read so far dude.

Now, with that out of the way, let’s get to the real talk. I don’t know how to phrase this without sounding like a hater, which you know I’m not trying to do!

Do you think it’s possible you may have to lose a bit more than 35 to get contest ready? I hate to use Waylander as a comparison because it’s a little unfair (lol, sorry) but I think of him. He got down to like 240 recently… at 6’2". And he felt that he wasn’t even contest ready yet, as I recall. I am NOT calling you soft or anything like that, because I’m one to talk, but it looks like 200-210 may be a closer expectation at sub-4% BF.

And I’m not trying to stir trouble, create controversy or anything like that. I really want to see you kick ass and take names. I don’t want you to short change yourself in any way; when I look through some of your more recent pictures it looks like you may possibly be higher than 18% right now. Maybe you’re taking measurements, I truly do not know. Anyway, I may be mislead because there haven’t actually been any shirtless pics or anything so far, so you can just tell me to STFU if I’m totally off-base here. :stuck_out_tongue:

Anyway, I will continue to read and watch this thread… come March, do you plan on logging your dieting/contest prep efforts in here, or have you not gotten that far yet?

“All in theory tho, never really will know until i get down to it.”

Yea, Way is taller than me, and that can account for a good amount of weight. one reason i think ill still weigh a good amount is my training style, or maybe moreso my original training style. Back when i was 185, i was lifting relatively close to what i am now. I BELIEVE Constantly lifting heavy and not eating enough led my body to build thick, dense muscle fibers, as opposed to building larger ones- I say this cuz we all know you can train as heavy as you want, but if you dont eat enough you wont grow in size. And I did this for years, which could have great effects on muscle and bone density.

but as i said in my original post, its purely speculation. I dont know how much ill lose when it comes down to it. Honestly, i think im more like 20% myself. But I Do know i have a habit of short changing myself, and i tried to take that into account with that estimation of BF. Back when i was 215, i thought i was 20% BF. I got my BF tested (electronically, not by a shitty little calliper) and it turns out i was 15%. So who knows.

And in response to “Way not feeling like hes contest rdy” statement, its total nonsense. Its going to be Way’s first competition right? Well if thats the case, then hes just like me. a Fucking confused perfectionist. Have you seen the people competing at entry level contests? i could shave, not diet down, tan, walk on stage with a gut, and win just because id be 3x the size of anyone there. We are competing against 160lb shmoes, Not Ronnie Coleman. Yet ive refused to allow myself to take that step. Ive tried to join 3 competitions, spanning over 2 years, and each time i diet down for a month, lose 30lbs, and tell myself im not ready and that next year’s the year. Well fuck that nonsense. THIS year is the year. MARCH is the deadline. THERE ARE NO OTHER COMPETITIONS. If i fail to join March’s competition, i will lose what little self respect i have left.

i don’t typically respond to many threads anymore because to be honest, most people on this site are just playing bodybuilder, powerlifter or whatever. at the end of the day, we all know that you have to walk the walk to truely lift your head up and call yourself one…otherwise you are just someone that lifts weights and will one day look back and have nothing more to show for their time as a “bodybuilder” or “powerifter” than a high post count.

i really hope you do compete in March. I remember the first time I dieted down for my first bodybuilding show and i was amazed at how much weight i had to lose to get to a competition weight. I thought i was in good shape to start with but i ended up losing something like 40lbs and i started at about 200lbs. You learn really fast if all your training up to that point has been affective. you see all those glaring weakpoints that are hidden under the extra weight. you have to face the facts- do you really have what it takes to be a bodybuilder?? i learned more about myself getting ready for that first show than i’ve probably learned since. Most people don’t want to face the truth. They would prefer to walk around looking big, having people compliment them on their swole pecs and arms and make excuses for why they haven’t competed.

Trust me, once you do it your training will be so much more focused and you will be so much more driven. plus when you look back many years from now, you’ll have something of substance to be proud of. i don’t think there will be many people 20 years from now saying- “yeah… i may have never actually competed in anything or proved to myself how good i could actually be but i sure did have one awesome post count on some forum”

i’ll be watching with interest…
