Great progress man!
Good job so far buddy
Appreciate the kind words guys.
Trying to keep the strength up, not giving my body a chance to catabolize its muscle. Hit a 495 box squat today (granted my leg day volume was exponentially less, i tried to counter that with substantially greater weight). Feeling good/wrecked lol. Oh caloric deficit, how i hate you lol.
Well, its official- I am dropping out of my contest prep.
Yep, it finally got too the point where i just snapped. Recently began my school semester, and had to change around my work schedule due to everything. Days consisted of me waking up early as to do my cardio/prep food for the day, head to work/school, head to the gym, then head immediately to school/work, and getting home late. And i know some will say im simply conjuring excuses…ive just been trying to lose weight and piling more and more onto myself for so long that i finally collapsed.
I know im letting some of you down, and will probably lose any sense of respect from others- but this is something i have to do, because i just feel miserable. I need to get my life in order, get my head straight. This is a very important semester for me…
…well, i guess some of you were actually right in the end…
Continue to get leaner, but do it more gently than you have been. Don’t worry about contests, you don’t owe anyone anything, least of all on a fucking internet forum.
Hey, Akuma.
What Rational Gaze said.
Then pirasi.
You’re not letting anyone in here down.
In the end, it’s about fun and joy of life.
You’re dedicated. No one can take that away from you.
Add to that the fact that you’re young and thus have years ahead of you.
All the best, dude.
You’re profile says you’re 23 so I’m guessing you’re graduating soon?
Are you just delaying competing until your schedule clears up or do you not plan to compete anytime soon?
Progress has been made. This game is long term for most people.

bullshit! let’s cut the fucking pat on the ass and ‘you’re a unique fucking snowflake’ shit.
he let EVERYBODY down.
granted yes, we have forums for combat, for piihb, hitting her, and pretty much everything else. but at the core this is a site about “the intelligent and relentless pursuit of muscle” this whole site stems from the core group of people in each respective forum that put in the effort and actually achieve their goals.
this guy goes around offering advice to people anytime he can, gets the personal support of one of the most respected members on here (stu). gets 99% of the forum to stfu by posting progress pics, turns it around and in turn gets THE ENTIRE COMMUNITY OF TNATION behind him, and then when it starts to get down to the hard part, he flakes out.
the will to continue to drive on when you don’t want to is the main issue in HALF OF THE GODDAMN THREADS IN THE BODYBUILDING/POWERLIFTING/BEGINNER SECTION.
while i admit, i mainly hang around the GAL and SAMA forums, what initially brought me here AND keeps me here, are the few people like Stu, DOH, and Way that continue to talk about their goals and reach them. it’s motivating shit.

you either obviously do not understand the definition of dedication, or have mislabed the OP. anyone can do something when it’s easy. it’s when things get uncomfortable and a few people decide to drive on that dedication is evident.

It took all of these pages for someone to get my sentiment exactly right.
Look, it takes YEARS to build the size enough to do WELL at a contest. You don’t diet down for the very first time at this stage and look like Phil Heath. He will likely lose some muscle in the process simply because of the pace he is moving. This alone will cause every dumbass half assed newb to only focus on this, make dumbass comments which in the long run will do nothing but cause him to incorrectly question himself.
Once again, my advice to most at this stage is to avoid posting pics as you diet down until the process is done with. Most of these people are not anywhere near the level of commitment to be telling Akuma what to do or give an honest critique based on experience.
The few who are seem to all be in agreement for the most part.

Hey, Bubba Ho-Tep!
I’m not sure if you’re for real with your response and I don’t intend for this thread to go down the crapper. Since I really like and respect you, I’ll play, though.
You question his dedication.
Since I don’t know jack about his life (financial and family situation, for example), I’m giving him the benefit of the doubt, though. School and other stuff is more important, after all.
[quote]HolyMacaroni wrote:

True.
It didn’t seem to me he did that out of self-aggrandization, though, or the need to expose himself. It rather came across as sharing his passion for bodybuilding. Come to think of it, he really has some acumen about applying human anatomy to exercise.

You jelly because of that?
Why not? It’s Stu’s call, after all. I’m not his pimp. Are you?
[quote]HolyMacaroni wrote:

True. But he didn’t start this thread.
There seemed to be popular request for him doing some exposure.
I think people’s expectations run too high. Would you emotionally invest in a chick you’d just bang for one night? Seriously?
[quote]HolyMacaroni wrote:

It seemed to get hard, didn’t it?
Do we have all the facts?
All this aside: some people cope better with being in fucked-up situations than others.
I’m pretty sure you’ve noticed he was sensitive even before starting this contest diet stuff.
Or put in other words: this ain’t the army, Mac. It’s an internet forum.

I’m familiar with dedication. Thanks for the ad hominem, nonetheless. Still like you ![]()
I’m not sure I’ve mislabeled Akuma. It’s just that I’m not trying to hold other people to my standards.
Heck, I’m almost a demi-god in case you haven’t noticed, yet. Ok, not really. But I can do a LOT of things most people can’t do. Thus, holding all people to my personal standards would be retarded.
Stay cool, everybody.
There is tons of bullshit in this thread.
Truth #1 - Akuma started a CONTEST DIET at a higher body fat percentage than I would ever recommend.
Truth #2 - If this is your first time out, do NOT rely on a forum filled with this many half assed trainers and relative newbs for advice or even encouragement along the way unless you are advanced and can deal with the stupidity without it affecting your goals
Truth #3 - For Akuma or even Holy Mac to like what they see in a contest conditioned state, they will have to either get bigger than they are now or be carrying that size longer and lean it up more.
Expanding on those, for #1, just from personal experience, if you are starting a contest diet at over 15% body fat, realize you will have no clue whatsoever what you will look like dieted down until you lose a lot of that weight. I would not recommend dropping that much weight from that high a body fat percentage unless you are truly carrying A SHIT LOAD of muscle and can stan to lose some and still be huge.
#2, this forum has some people who will stand out in the future. I honestly feel Kingbeef and Holymac will make some noise later on as will Waylander, but judging even from his post above, I am not sure holymac understands just how much muscle he is carrying.
#3 - This is why I am not rushing down in weight…because even at this size, I know I will likely lose some muscle and had I tried doing this back when I only weighed about 230lbs the first time, I would have ended up on stage weighing all of 175lbs looking like I had AIDs.
Let’s see where that takes the discussion.
fine.
i retract my statement about how saying he let down everybody. i have no authority to speak on other people’s behalfs.
i was so impressed that he had managed to get the interest of one of the posters on here i pay attention to, had managed to prove people wrong, had stuck to poidh, and just the overall attitude of dealing with the crap everyone was giving him. infact he turned it around to where everyone was now cheering him on.
i, personally, am dissapointed.
but what do i know? i’ve never stepped on a stage.

you’re right. i don’t.
you also don’t see me going around all over the bodybuilding site. b/c i know i have no idea wth is going on.
a common theme talked on here is the drive and motivation to push though, yadda yadda.
it sucks to see someone who professes his love for the sport and everything yadda yadda fail to display that quality when requried

Are you serious with this shit?
I am against most of these guys worrying about competing before they actually build enough size. This is what bhwhitwell was talking about in his thread and why he quit competing (I don’t want to speak for him though). There is a whole psychological side to this that few of you seem to really grasp.
The only ones this wouldn’t matter to are the ones who claim they are doing it “for the experience”…because trust me, if your goal is to ever actually win a trophy, all of these comments as you drop weight WILL affect you. You are also less likely to look the way you really want until you are actually BIGGER than what is comfortable to you.
That means you would likely experience the same shit at this stage. You have tons of potential, but even at your stage, you don’t have enough solid size to diet down and still be filled out.

huh?
i have never talked about doing a show.
well, i can’t remember all four thousand plus of my posts, but i am 100% that i have never expressed serious interest in wanting to do a show any, ANY time soon.
i have managed to get bigger and stronger in the two and half years i’ve been a member here without having to make a ‘hey look at me getting bigger/stronger’ thread.
you can bet when/if i decide to cut up i will forgo the ‘hey look at me getting smaller’ thread as well.
of course there is a pysch thing that goes with this. hence why i don’t agree with those kinds of threads.
Lol if everyone had the same attitude toward competition as you Prof X everyone would end up just like you and never actually competing. You always talk about doing what the pros or those bigger did…well guess what? Most pros seem to have pics of them in competitions from way back before they were impressively developed.
I didn’t say you were planning on competing soon, just that there seems to be some belief, judging by responses, that competing should be your top priority from day one as if how you look takes a back seat to jumping on stage.
There are tons of guys who we never see post anymore who were all claiming to be doing a show when they were still small. My guess is, very few stuck with it after that. That whole “competition mind set” can lock you in as well if you do it too often, especially before any real size is built.

?
How do you know my attitude? If I hadn’t gone into dental school or the military, you can bet I would have competed by now. I am now starting a business. Competition does not take priority over my finances.
Why would you think that because I had not competed yet that I think all people should wait as long as I did?
I have never written anything like that so maybe you need to get your facts straight.
