I think Calipers are kinda hit or miss depending on the individual and how their body likes to store its adipose. I got calipered back in college, and I remember thinking how my triceps (actually the back of the arms) never tend to get soft, but yet other pinch points do (the figure came out a lot lower than I would have expected… I think it was pretty inaccurate).
Back when I was actually talking Sports Med classes in school they told us that the only truly accurate assessment of bodyfat was hydrostatic weighing. As far as those handheld electronic testers go, I bought an “athlete” model last year. and a week out from my May 2010 contest it told me I was 19% fat -lol. So I wouldn’t put ANY faith in those. I’ll stick with photos

Maybe it was OVERestimating your BF% Akuma? Ever think about that? maybe you’re secretly already ripped and don’t even know it yet

Yeah, you know me,… all about bursting other people’s bubbles… I’m never the helpful and constructive type.

So, are we going to get actual pictures or are you going to keep posting worthless camera phone pictures with your shirt on?
I’m being serious, if there was any seriousness lost in my typing this. I still haven’t been able to grasp why so many people are in love with you when none of us have seen you.

Because he can write texts about BBing info that is extremely common knowledge and common sense while making it appear as if it were gained from lots of personal experience. He’s also a shameless self promoter and those almost always find at least a small following given enough time.
He has a point bro. If you’re going to post pics preparing for a comp they should be progress pics in regular bodybuilding poses showing off your body.
I’m not going to speak for the other posters, but I just think some people want to see your progress as it appears. We all want to do the same thing and all want to see people making progress, I think no matter what your pictures look like, any will be better than none and will certainly demonstrate the progress you have made. No one’s here to make fun of anyone, and those who are aren’t actually here for BB.
Don’t feel bad for yourself, just show people your progress. In the end, you and all of us can look back and see how much you’ve accomplished.

x2
Don’t let the people that are overly adversarial freak you out. Most just want to see pics because it helps readers get a better understanding of the progress you’ve made.
IMO the call for pictures is a natural reaction to all the “photo less” i-experts/i-bad-asses (who should not be allowed to post anything other than questions)…

Trust me kid, you’re not wasting my time, I don’t read any of your novels.
I just want pictures, because this is a bodybuilding forum, which is a sport (or art, depending on your camp) that is 100% based on how you look. It doesn’t matter if a poster is a 100 pound skinny kid or a fat guy, progress is progress, and the masses want to see it.
You haven’t, and can’t come up with a single reason to not post proper pictures. If you can think of one, let me know.
I;m pretty sure Akuma said he wasn’t going to take “regular” pics at the moment due to things like body hair/tan etc… too tired to go through the thread and get a quote.
Common sense, but: if you don’t like the thread, don’t read it.

I agree with you, but wouldn’t we be shortchanging Akuma if we didn’t suggest ways to better measure his progress? I believe the quote you were looking for went something along the lines of “I’m not too eager to show my progress,” followed by “it’s like showing off an unfinished work of art, so many things can go wrong…”
To me, these are spoken by someone who may be downgrading the progress he has actually made, meaning that showing off his improvements, which are obviously great (down to 230’s from 260), would be awesome for us viewers to see.
