Texas Method Question

I’ve read that the Monday workout (volume day) can take nearly 2 hours to complete. On Monday, I have an hour and 15 minutes to workout. So my question is: do you think I would be able to complete the Monday workout in 1.25 hours?

If not, I was thinking about putting the Intensity Day on Monday and the Volume Day on Friday. Would that work?

Thanks

How about doing Tuesday Thursday Saturday or Wednesday Friday Sunday? Generally it’s better to have more rest after the volume day before the intensity day than the other way around, so it’s best not to switch, but it probably won’t make too much difference if you do it anyway. Or, you can just do your sets really quickly and acquire beastmode conditioning.

Train around your constraints. If you only have a set time to workout, make sure you know your pace to get everything completed and stick to it. Just realize that your strength is going to be limited by your ability to recover from set to set, but like absolute strength, that is trainable as well.

I can’t lift on Tuesday, and I have even less time on Wednesday. So I guess I can acquire beastmode conditioning, switch the days, or just pick a different program. I want to do Texas Method, Bill Starr’s 5x5, or Westside for Skinny Bastards.

Okay. So you think it is best to do the program as is and just limit rest periods?

I think you should examine the different programs and find which one you can use best to meet your goals given your constraints. I’ve done Texas Method before and it can be a ball buster on volume day, but it does work. Even if you’re limited by your rest periods, you’ll be giving your body a stress that it will need to compensate for

How about Thursday Saturday Monday? But switching probably won’t make too much difference tbh, it just means you get 1 less day of rest after your volume workout.

Sounds like you need to try a little more DOING, and a little less READING… IF you plan on making that program work for you. Or find a program that better fits your schedule.
