Cool! So are you a player or a listener (or both)?
Just logged on for the first time, and thought this was cool. I’m a 21 year music education student in Indiana. Didn’t start training til my sophomore year of college, you know, after I let myself ballon to a fat 220 lbs. Now after 2 years of training, and a really serious 6 months since I found out about T-mag, I finally got down to 170, with strength gains improving contiuously through it all. When I’m not in the gym, I’m at work or at school, or practicing. Anywho, that’s a little about me.
Im male, 28, 6’6, a very lean but muscular 195 lbs with 6.5 % bf. Im a certified personal trainer with a B.S in Exercise Science from Grand Valley State University (the #1 Division II Athletic program in the USA voted 3 years in a row, and raining Div II Football Nat. Champs two years in a row)
I work as a personal trainer/health coach here in Rockford, MI. I have been working out since I was 16, but training seriously for 8 years. My whole life I have been trying to add lean muscle mass, and have been successful to some degree, by adding 35-40 since HS. But still struggle to add mass without adding bodyfat.
I love fitness and the fitness lifestyle. I have never drank alcohol or smoked a cigarette in my life.
It’s nice to be able to get to know some of my T-Brethren. I guess it’s my turn. I turned 19 in May, and I’m 5’10" 180. I’m from Bakersfield, but right now I’m working on a degree in chemical engineering at UCLA (hoping to make a little of my own nano-dispersion technology). I’ve been training since high school for football and swimming, but only seriously trained with weights for the last year (when I found this site). Here are the numbers:
Squat: 365
Bench: 265
Dead: 395
Snatch: 145
Clean and Jerk: 205
I train because I want to look good nekkid and be scary strong one day. Oh, and I’m a cheerleader (yes, you read that right).
Yup I am a little freaky T-man from Chicago. Graduated with a double major in Computer Information Systems and Marketing. I work as an all around IT dude for a company that provides free legal services for people with disabilities. Though a have a good job, I sincerely detest #!&*%$@ computers!!! So now I am studying to be a personal trainer and thinking to go back to school and be in debt again. But I digress, here is my stats: 26 yo/5’6 with shoes on/155lbs and counting (not bad from being 115 lbs 4 years ago)
Why do I train? Well it gives me great confidence in myself and it motivates others who had seen my progress. Also, I fully enjoy the friendly competition with my brethren & sisters in weight room. And oh yeah, I train in a hard core YMCA (lol) gotta tell you there are lots of hardcore powerlifters in that gym who are just great people. The chalk filled floor just shows that it’s not for sissies ;-). Lastly, I love this site!! Any T-peeps from Chicago pls. give me a shout out.
Great meeting all of you. This is such a great community!
My name is Josh and I live in Columbus, Ohio. I’ve always lived in Ohio and have been in Columbus ever since I started school at Ohio State. My undergrad was in Management Information Systems and now I’m finishing up my Masters in Exercise Physiology. I start the doctorate program in Exercise Physiology next quarter.
Most of you probably do not know what Wushu is (its in my username). Wushu is chinese martial arts and I’ve always been an avid practioner. It’s the stuff Jackie Chan and Jet Li do.
I am 5’7" and weigh around 145 lbs. I’m about 6-8% body fat and train about 5 days a week. I’d like to get my weight up around 150 lbs. but its been tough. I have a herniated disc so I was not training for a long time but have been training pretty hard for the last couple of months and love it.
I am 37 years old, 6’0", 180-185 lbs, 8 to 10% bodyfat.
I live in suburban Milwaukee, Wisconsin. I have a B.A. in political science from St. Norbert College and a law degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison (Go Badgers!). I practice law in a small downtown Milwaukee firm, specializing in insurance defense.
Not much time for hobbies after working and working out. I work out for the health benefits and to look younger than my approaching middle-age counterparts. The attention from younger women doesn’t hurt either. I am a die-hard second generation Green Bay Packers fan, who will someday inherit my Dad’s season tickets, which has he held for over 40 years (unlike many others who make the claim, he was really at the Ice Bowl game). During the summer, I like hanging out with my lifting friends at Milwaukee’s many outdoor festivals.
Io mi chiamo Robert. I’m 17, 5’8" at 135 lbs. I’m a skinny bastard, I know. I’ve been part of T-mag for three years, but only started really training a year ago. As the picture to my left shows, Hilary Duff is the love of my life, and someday we will be together. My girlfriends are always upset that I give her more attention than I give them. They’ll just have to deal with it, though.
Once I graduate high school, most likely I plan to become a NAVY diver, so that I can travel the world and dive at the same time! After that, I want to get a job writing for T-nation, as well as contribute to research for Biotest. Someday I will RULE Biotest, HA HA HA HA!!
Ok, 21 year old ex-South African currently living in Columbus, Ohio and going to the professional party college (OU) where I play rugby. Currently 6’1" and 185lb (bleh!) and about 10% body fat. Looking to put on 10 lbs before school starts and lose a bit of the fat cos I wanna switch positions and can’t be a skinny bastard anymore
Majoring in the holy grail of nerddom, Computer Science, and trying to avoid booze while I train hard in the off season.
mmm…fun thread
I am a 19 yr old female who is in college for dental hygiene. I like animals, reading good books, and hanging out with friends. I have worked out for 2 yrs but this monday i am actually starting a real planned (gasp!) routine coupled with proper diet. I’ll let ya know how that turns out…
I dream of being in a figure comp someday and I hope to own a gym by my 30th b-day
My name is Mallori, and I’m 12 years old(almost). I’m from Minnesota. I play basketball, softball, and tennis. I mess around and do gymnastics stuff at home too. I love hunting, and this year I’m finally old enough to get all sorts of liscenses. I also love to go fishing. I’m going into the seventh grade. I workout and such for athletic reasons, and everyone deeply inside wants to look good. When I grow older, I want to major in sports nutrion and exercise science.
I’m 4’9", 82 lbs. I don’t know my bf %. I don’t really workout hard with weights, usually I just do bodyweight stuff. But I still see the max I can do in squats and bench press sometimes. My max bench is 85 pounds :P. Max squat is 125 and dl is 150. I do my bodyweight stuff both using just bodyweight, and using the x-vest I won from T-Jack(thanks t-nation!). I haven’t been doing much lately tho, as I’ve broken my left foot. I can do one legged pushups and one legged squats tho. Anyone have any suggestions for one legged exercises?
Wow, 12 years old. That’s amazing that you’re here learning stuff and lifting. I started getting into weights and stuff around your age but unfortunately there was nothing like T-nation around to help give out good advice.
I used to do some gymnastics and coach some gymnastics now. Incorporating resistance training will definitely help with your gymnastics! Keep it up!
as the name implies I’m a big “freak” about 6’3" 265lbs 12% bodyfat, the names were what I went with or “quadzilla” 1RM on my lifts aren’t know, but.
I squat “heavy” 515lbs 1set of 3
bench before A shoulder injure 345 for 3 sets of 5-8 now barely reaching 295 for a set of 3. I’m getting back there
I have 2 kids, 3 and 7 my boy is most likely going to be just as big with no neck, That’s going to be cool.
I’m A bouncer at night and with 20" arms nobody gives me much grief.
Wow Tokyoo, I was wondering what had happened to you, you just disappeared from the forums, oh well, not everyone has to post everyday… although I still try.
Sorry for being late - had missed the thread somehow.
I’m Makkun, male, 33 years old, am a towering 5’7ft and weigh 164lbs. Yeah, that’s not much, but when I started lifting with 18, I weighed 108lbs at the same height. So I’m pretty happy that I’m normal now, not a really skinny bastard anymore.
I started lifting to gain weight (duh!) so my jiu-jitsu/karate partners wouldn’t throw me around like a chicken wing anymore. Now I’m mostly in for health and sports performance.
I am originally German but live in England now, where I work in a college. I hold an MA in Japanese Studies, Intercultural Studies and Psychology, but I work in an administrative role.
I’ve been a roleplayer for 20 years, like my two cats and have … pretty liberal (puh, I said it - don’t start throwing stones just yet) views on most things.
