Teen Supplements

hi,i am 15 years old, 5’10", 163 pounds. i have been weight training for about a year and a half now almost every week 3-4 days a week. i have gained about 30 pounds of muscle and toned out alot, but in the past couple of weeks i have hit a plateau in my lifting.

i know my training schedule is good because i have read some of the articles on this website and used them to create one of my own. i try to eat about 3500 calories a day with 150 grams of protein which includes the protein i take with my shakes. i use optimum nutrition whey and cottage cheese for protein sources in my shakes.

Next year i am playing football so i need to get bigger. i am wondering what kind of supplements would work for me besides multivitamin, and flax oil.

I am thinking along the lines of creatine or ZMA if they are even necessary for someone in my circumstance

Creatine and ZMA are great choices

Other than that not progressing not gaining 90% of time diet related. Check that. Hows your pot w/o nutrition?? If not gaining wieght and needing/trying to simple eat more.

also rest recovery you need it as well. Last check your training. Are you working DAMN hard but also smart get the hell ion there get it done get OUT eat and rest.

thank you for the reply, i am definitely working my ass of in the weight room. I eat clean foods, drink water and juices, and try to stay away from the fast food crap. what do you mean my post w/o nutrition?

also when i went to GNC the other day the guy said i shouldnt take ZMA or creatine because i am growing right now, any comments on that?

i dont know really like im taking creatine im 15 i know lots that are taking it

its not a bad thing for you just your body does make creatine not that much of it though

Pot doesn’t work for everyone, but hey, I’m not judging you (just kidding).

Post workout is when you want to ingest protein(bcaa’s) and sugary carbs. The carbs are good for an insulin spike. You want to ingest this meal immediately after your workout. If you’ve got the money, look into Surge. It’s a great product.

would that be more effective than creatine for muscle gains, my mom will get paranoid if she thinks i’m taking too many supplements. ha…

Ahahaha, the guy at GNC was bullshitting you. When he says creatine at 15 is too young, ask him about meat?

I have been told the same thing the OP has while inquiring about creatine. I’m 17, and when I talk to the guys on shift they have cautioned me against using it at my age.

You all need to simply take a few hours out of you life to researh creatine on here and on NON****** bodybuilding sites like Pub med etc and read on what it does and is etc.

It is a quality supp.

My first impression would be NO!! I dont think there is one of the brands that uses Creapure. If it does it will say so on the label. Likely its over price Chinese creatine. Stuff make me fart like none other LOL

Check everywhere on the label, front/back for a small-ish label that says either “Creapure” or “SKW labs”. Those are the best. Still, generally you’re ok with offbrand creatine if you can handle the bloat/fart whatever. Not my first choice however. I do know for a fact that Optimum Nutrition uses Creapure however, as I used that before. That’s 35 bucks for 200 servings.

If you’ve already opened it you’ll be fine, no worries. If not, think about trying to find another brand that uses stuff from Creapure/SKW labs.

Creatine is fine for you. It’s a compound found in meat, and which your body makes to some degree. It’s possibly the most researched supplement in the history of sports.

And don’t get suckered in to buying the “special” kinds of creatine (kre-alkaline, CEE,)). If you want better absorption, just take creatine with your post workout protein/sugar shake.

Or buy koolaid/gatorade packages and mix it in with your creatine, same effect as buying the expensive crappy stuff.

Out of curiousity, is this plateau a lifting plateau or a weight gain plateau?

both but mostly weight gain
