Is Creatine Worth It?

Is creatine worth the time/ money? I know it doesn’t take much time, but are the results worth the money? What all are the benefits of creatine?

I believe there are a few creatine articles in T-Nation. Have you tried the search function?

Depends on the rest of your diet.

The amount of creatine that the human body can metabolize is quite low, if you consume more it just gets excreted without having any (good or bad) effect.

If you already consume lots of meat, eggs, fish etc, than additional creatine might not benefit you in any way, if you get your protein from other sources (e.g. diary products, or protein supplements) you should supplement creatine.

info on creatine :

Yes. It’s dirt cheap and quite effective. 14-15$ for what, 100 servings? Additionally, 5g (the serving size) is generally overkill and it doesn’t need to be taken every day. It lasts forever.

Yes, for me it is and if you buy it here it’s not a like it’s a sup that’s going to break the bank. Pretty reasonably priced if you ask me.

D

It is one of the few supplements that works for me. I am stronger when I use it.

It doesn’t work much for me but it works for a lot of people who try it.

Creatine is cheap enough to be worth a try. 6 weeks. Be scientific about it.

Creatine monohydrate is the most researched sports supplement ever.

It works very well for the vast majority of people. This has been shown over and over.

As for whether it’s worth it, that depends on your finances. If you don’t have money for supplements, don’t worry about it. I’ve never understood why people ask such questions.

It’s dirt cheap and works best for people using it for the first time. 12 bucks for about 3 months? Come on now.

Creatine is a postive supplement… it has good benefits in strength gain. Now i know most of you thinking that creatine will get you lean and ripped like ronnie coleman. No, But it will give you the strength of pushing your muscles when muscle tigue sets which make muscles more stronger.

Now i recomend EAS Phosphagen elite, This guy that trains me for football did his thesis on creatine for him to get his major in exercise science. So in my opinion creatine doest work espically EAS Phosphagen Elite, It has Beta-Alanine which delays the build up of lactic Acid in your mucles which allows more recovery time on your muscles after your work out and lessins the soreness of muscles.

I don’t know anyone who thinks that Creatine monohydrate is going to make them leaner.

As for brands, you’re best off just buying pure german creatine like sold through this site. EAS products are notoriously overpriced.

How many supplements not counting protein powders have stood the test of time like creatine? HMB and all those next best things have come and gone(well should be gone ha) but creatine and it’s derivatives like CEE are still here.

I agree with german creatine and creatine monohydrate its more and a higher ammount of it. And true EAS do over price there creatine, iam just saying its worth paying for cause your getting strength and bulk for what you paid for, i have tried the stuff for 6 months and maid alot f gains and actually bulked up alot and it just helps building strength with the creatine and beta-alanine mixed with the creatine that makes it a good product…Anywas anybody on here know anything for cutting? Give me a list i dont care if its illegal or legall.

Ok, thanks for the info, but now to my real question. Let’s say I have a good workout program, take creatine and lift and good diet and all that good shit and I get bigger/stronger. Then I stop using creatine, (yet still lift and maintain good diet, etc) will I lose all my gains?

you won’t “lose everything” but your rate of gains will slow down drastically.

I started taking creatine and after a couple of weeks I began to get heart palpitations. I am not talking about 1 here or there I am talking about 5 - 10 palpitations a minute. I decided to stop taking it and it took a month but the palpitations have finally stopped. I am not 100 percent sure if it was the creatine but I am pretty sure. So in my opinion, for what little it gives you, no it is not worth it. Besides it makes you retain water.

It’s always refreshing to watch people extrapolate truth for all of humanity from their own individual experience.

Even if conceding that creatine was the cause of your problem there are 5000 guys for every one of you that have had no issues whatsoever.

For the same price of a meal at a fast food joint you can get 500 grams of creatine. Take the reccomended serving of 5 grams a day and you would have enough to last forever. Within this time you can jusge for yourself whether its worth it.

I realize most people like you and 5000 other guys can’t make good progress without having to fill your body with chemicals. This poster asked a question and I gave him an answer. Hard work and a good diet is all that is needed to be successful. And besides it is the truth and I said that I was not 100 percent sure. Besides it is too bad that 5000 other guys are wasting thier money when all they have to do is focus and work a little harder.
