Before having undergone rotator cuff surgery on both my shoulders due to injuries incurred playing football and rugby, leaving me inhibited for almost two years now, I had some decent numbers.

Age: 15
Weight: 185

Bench: 295
Squat: 420
Deadlift: 500

All raw, with the exception of a belt and chalk on the deadlift.

I would have liked to compete at 181 but the football season came and I wanted to play that instead… then I dislocated my shoulder haha

Those are some badass numbers for 15 years old and 185! What was your height?

Thanks man! I was about 5"8’

Two shoulder surgeries later - after dislocating my shoulder again, and then AGAIN on the other shoulder - I’m recovering now at 17 years old. Once I’m allowed to lift again, I’m thinking of retiring from contact sports (it’s getting obvious my shoulders can’t handle it) and doing a few meets once I’m strong again.

I live in Cheshire. I’m gonna be training at “Metal Health Gym” in Wallingford once I’m cleared to lift by my surgeon (I just had my left labram repaired on May 7th.) I used to lift in the Power Barn in Cheshire back when I got those numbers. The Power Barn ended up changing hands, going downhill, and then finally closed and became a CrossFit gym (are you kidding me!?!) Can’t wait to get back in the iron game man, it kills me to look at the stats of the kids my age lifting big numbers and all I can say is “woulda/coulda/shoulda if I didn’t have so many shoulder injuries”!

Ain’t that the truth, I can’t say how many times I drove by there without checking it out. I always saw the sign but never investigated further, because it’s so subtle. Shoulda known a factory plaza would hold the best gym around

Hey, I’m 15 too and I was wondering what you thought of 5/3/1. I don’t mean to turn this into a 5/3/1 thread but im just wondering how this program is for people of our age group/experience level

its a great program. i posted my numbers on a thread about a month ago and Wendler himself was impressed. like i said, it’s great. the strength gains are unreal. I made the mistake of being too cocky and going to giant weight all the time.

just do what i didn’t and stick to the program. It said to put 5 lbs on to ur bench every month and i did 10. bad mistake. just do everything it says and ull get strong no doubt.

during the first 3-5 cycles everything will go up by about 10-15 lbs a month. dont get cocky. after about 6 months, it will start to die down and you wont get a lot of PR’s. I only get a PR every once in a couple weeks.

I almost never get it with bench, but i always get one with squat, shoulder press and deadlift. like last month i hit a new DL PR with 300x8 (i couldve gotten more but my straps gave out), and i almost never get PRs anymore. so don’t be discouraged if you don’t get a lot of PRs after about 5 months.
