I think Tank also did that for WCW Nitro. The way he throws around that weight frightens the hell out of me. I’m surprised he still has elbows, but oh my god is he strong.
Tank’s a real interesting person, who knows if he has the discipline for powerlifting. He makes a lot more money just being himself and picking fights.
Yea I never understood how he could do that. He doesn’t have much definition at all. You would think someone who can bench 600 lbs would at least have some triceps to show you. He’s just got some big saggy boobs… maybe that’s what all the PLifters here should go for, it obviously works for Tank. Big saggy boobs, no arms or abs = big bench.
Well, for what it’s worth there are a lot of rumors that one or two of those plates were fake. I have no idea though, and either way Tank was a strong motherfucker.

I don’t know about the fake plates. Fake plates don’t bend bars unless it was a fake bar…Even if he had 2 fakes on each side, 405 doesn’t bend like that. Tank is strong as hell, and he’s a psycho (unless he is reading this thread, in which case he is a truly nice guy). I think it’s for real.

You can’t be serious. You don’t have to be ‘defined’ to put up big numbers. He’s not interested in being cut, he only cares about being strong and knocking people out.

Ahahahahah…because you need to be cut and have great abs to get a good bench. You can tell by the shape of his body he has a good deal of upperbody muscle; fat with no muscle and fat with muscle look very different.
Were some of those plates fake? Who knows. He’s still a big dude, and he hit extremely hard. Too bad those were his only good attributes as a fighter.
As for him going into powerlifting; there’s zero money in powerlifting, and zero recognition. To tell anyone they should go into powerlifting to prove themselves when they’re in a position to make actual money doing something else is ridiculous.

So what kind of bar was that? Are you saying no bar bends like that? Oly bars? Deadlift bars?
I think I read somewhere that Abbott said there were some fake plates on there. And if it’s from a professional wrestling video, it’s almost certain that some are.
There’s a video of one of the wrestlers supposedly benching over 700lbs raw.

I don’t want to speculate. If he said there were fake plates, maybe there were. The bar looked like it had quite a bit of movement to it, more than 405 would give, in my opinion. Maybe more than 495. I don’t know. I do know that I wouldn’t want to sit under a crap bar with a near maximal load.
I am not a Tank Abbot worshipper, so if there is proof out there that it was fake, then I’d be interested in reading it.
I don’t know if he can bench 600lbs. I do know that he is strong as hell, and he punches with the intent of caving one’s head in.
