Sweet Form

I don’t even know what to make of it.

It’s best not to get hung-up on it.

Maybe it was a contest to see who could get injured first and we just took it out of context.

my back and legs are aching

“That’s how you do it.”

Uh, no.

Here is the same guys ~495 squat.

When you get a bunch of idiots together, they all become stupider.

There’s nothing wrong there.

That squat is quite low for that weight.

I wish half the idiots would post videos of themselves squatting on here. I guarantee most of you don’t go as low as you think you do. And probably not as low as this kid.

Goes along with the whole thread about internet liars.

Along with that, the first video isn’t much different than what we used to do with shrugs for the last set. Ours was more a static hold, but there was an attempt to lift that much (which is all he is doing)…which made it easier to go even heavier later on. He is doing his max on a deadlift. I question more whether those critiquing in this thread are able to do their heaviest set with text book form every time…and if so, maybe they should go a little heavier.

You don’t see too many guys his size and bigger who sit around and critique form to this degree unless they are being judged on it. Obviously, something he is doing is working or else everyone looking for what’s wrong would be bigger than him.

Form is definitely important. But its ok to not use impeccable form if your trying to get past a sticking point with some heavy ass weight. Short of doing something that is really prone to injuring you…its ok to break form.

If you’ve lifted around many large guys or watched them lift you’ll realize that some cheating is pretty accepted provided there is some heavy ass weight being used and they are trying to get their set.

So he hitched and ramped with some maximal weights…AND?

I could point out a strongman forum where some of the strongest people in this country use hitching and ramping.

The kid in the video looks like he is pulling 6 plates and he doesn’t hitch until after the bar passes his knees. His lower back is not in a compromised position at all. There’s probably little risk of injury.

The squat looks fine. I’m not going to even pretend to judge depth from that angle.

Also the kid looks like he has some decent size. So, again, what’s the problem here ?

Clearly, everyone who doesn’t train exactly the same as whatever way they’ve been taught is doing it wrong…whether it produces results greater than their own or not.

To tell the truth, this shit had died down lately. There used to be a lot more threads by people who were rank beginners calling every pro with a video on their “poor form”…as if the 20+" arms happened by accident.

They claim that ‘Coleman genetics’ allows those kinds of guys to get big no matter how they lift. BS, again all the biggest guy I know or have watched train and cheat with some heavy ass weights.

Did they all get big cuz of genetics? No…they safely do what it takes to move heavy ass iron.

Maybe I am the idiot here but that makes me want to hit it harder/heavier to day…

solid

Well this isn’t a good example, but if you did see some bad form that would cause injury for a beginner its best to avoid that. I wouldn’t recommend people new to lifting to imitate pros, as they don’t know how their body works yet.

But yeah I hate people nit picking others training, especially when what they are doing is working. I see this a lot at the gym, people whispering to each other talking about what some guy is doing and how it is wrong, yet he is huge. Then they go on to talk about how he is definitely on steroids ext.

Thank GOD for X and GetSwole and others. WTF, I thought I was the only one who felt the way I did but I’m happy to see I’m not alone.

When some of you guys are lifting those weights with textbook form, nitpick away. until then, keep it in your pants.

Right. I’m sick of people talking about ego-lifting and shit like that. As far as I’m concerned, I know that personally sometimes I like to PUSH my body using heavy weights. It’s not always going to be the prettiest form, but as long as people are busting their ass trying to get heavy weight up and not injuring themselves, I don’t see any reason for people to be so critical of other people’s lifting.

Yea, this thread definitely took a turn for the better.

Has this happened - someone who does move weight like that nitpicking someone’s form? Even once?

Makes you think…

i thought the squat form was pretty decent
