Surge + Milk = ?

Hey everyone,

I’m like many on this threat, on a mission to gain weight/muscle mass. ( I am a pathetic 130 @ 6’1) The last two weeks I began the diet part and this week I introduced some weights and such.

I bought both Grow! and Surge, but while I have no problem digesting the Grow! shakes… right now I am having a hard time with the Surge. And trust me guys I’ve try, but the taste.

Anyway, my question is: will it be okay with I used milk instead of water for the Surge to reduce the taste until I get used to it? Or do you guys suggest anything else.

Thanks!
Joe

Skim milk should be fine… you just want to limit fat intake imediatly post workout as it slows digestion.

Trust me it definitely grows on you. The first time I tried Surge I posted the same question to the group and I got flamed and for good reason.

Now since I’ve played with the ratio of water to mix the stuff is really sweet. It tastes awesome. Sometimes I just want to eat the stuff with a spoon.

Give it some time, it get’s better. Trust me.

Yes, that would be fine. May I suggest a whole gallon. Per hour.

Seriously, you should eat as much as possible. Actually more than you think is possible. You will feel bloated and ready to pop most of the time. This might be uncomfortable. It is good.

I would venture to say that you don’t have to worry much about macronutrient combos or other advanced concepts. Just eat like a madman!

While it would be slightly better with water, I agree completely with apayne.

hey apayne did you mean a gallon of milk per hour?

Surge has a great taste. If you cant stand it just chug it.

As someone who wasn’t real fond of Surge at first, I will echo that it quickly grows on you.

Maybe try it with more or less water to change the intensity of the flavor. Even though you don’t think you like it, you might find that making the flavor stronger actually makes it better. Try it both ways.

You should only use water in Surge, at least you should work yourself quickly to that point, if you do add anything. If you use milk, make sure it’s skim (fat will slow absorption), and use as little as possible.

Plus the other stuff these guys said…

I mix my Surge w/ Power Drive. Although it has been brought to my attention that this may cause competitive inhibition between amino acids (See: David Barr).

It also works to mix it with crystal light.

hello there,
Dr. Berardi suggests in his book from Scrawny to Brawny that the most dedicated should consume Surge before, during and after exercise… i tried this few times but God it makes me feel really really bloated and uncomfortable…

i also hear that to get the best insulin response Surge should be taken with as much water as possible… is there any tips that you could give me

Thanks

Chuck some creatine in with your Surge, apparently it says this on the label (so I read here) but seeing as I’ve never seen a tub in the flesh…

sounds delicious to me.

If you are indeed scrawny, try 3 or 4 scoops to 1 or 2 liters (quarts) of water. Drink 1/4th of the drink before you work out, 1/4 to 1/2 during and the rest after.

No it doesn’t, and the labels are available on the site here.

However, the Biotest creatine does recommend that it be added to a insulogenic (sp?) drink such as Surge.

Better yet, try yogurt. The Surge taste dosn’t even go through and you get a very sweet tasting cup of yogurt, plus all the enzymes in yogurt.

6’1 130lbs, were you a marathon runner

I wouldn’t mess with a good thing, honestly. Drink your Surge like a man with ice cold water. It really does taste best with the water very cold. Mix it slowly to avoid getting a lot of foam. It’s the foam that tastes bad, the drink it self actually does taste good with the right proporiton of water.

Milk is not advised, as it would taste like shit and be way to thick and foamy.

Surge + Milk = wasted Surge.

Surge is formulated to get amino’s into your bloodstream super-fast. Mixing it with the calcium, protein, fat, etc. in milk will f-up that formulation, and you’d be better off saving your money and just drinking regular old whey protein post-work-out.

That said, here’s what I do: I like my Surge strong, I drink 2 scoops with about 8 oz of ice water. With it I drink about 32 oz ice-cold water as a ‘chaser’. Doing this allows you to mix it to your taste, while still getting all the benefits of very diluted Surge.
