Actually yes, I feel more “athletic” I know that is vague, but I played sports for a big part of my life so kind of my measuring stick. Right now I could go play a pick up game of FB or basketball and not be dying. I know I am giving up on overall strength or body aesthetics, but I am happy with were things are going for me. Most people tell me I look like a play football and that is what I want to look like.

I totally understand, I think athletic is a great overall goal. Giving me cause to rethink my training. Thanks for the reply.

I hit 40 this year and with all my injuries I had to make the decision to stop the big weight and the heavy pounding. Just got tired of being in pain and not the muscle pain.

I’m staring down 48 with no injuries, but strong is relative, to me a body weight press and a clean of more than that is strong. I have a 3 year old daughter and am torn between pure strength training (coupled with weapons training) to scare the living crap out of the boys I can already see in her future and just all around mobility, health.
