Strong Legs!

Bro if u want strong legs then bodyweight stuff isnt gonna make your strength go up. Your endurance will go up from many reps using body weight but u wont get “stronger” If u wanna increase strength then stick with the squats but go with heavier weight and less reps.

Your original question is dealing with 2 different things that dont work together. [/quote]

Not exactly true. It all comes down to instensity and your level of fitness. I get my clients stronger with bodyweight exercises. Remember, at the beginning most people can’t do proper pistols (not even BW), they can’t do one-armed pushups, they can’t do handstand-pushups, let alone any isometric (not going to elaborate on that one again, I’ve done taht in my previous post on that topic) gymnastic exercise. Those will in fact get you stronger - again, I need to redirect to that isometrics article of Thibs (can’t remember the title).

In a nutshell: Yes, you can get stronger with bodyweight exercise. Just find one that challenges you.

I agree with Otep plyometrics are great but do NOT add weight when you do them. Im a kicker at a d-1 school my leg has to be stronger than anyones and theres no way to do that with squats and leg presses and deadlifts alone although they help to an extent.

Plyos make your legs explosive and strong without adding bulk, so for athletes aside from lineman they are a crucial thing to include. If you dont want to use weights then plyos along with stair/hill running will make your legs very strong trust me its all I do and I have one of the strongest legs in our conference. Ok plyos, these have given me great strength and explosiveness:

Jump Lunges
Jump Squats
Bench Hopping
Tuck jumps
Hill/stair running
Box Jumps
Bounding

If you want to know how to do them properly google em. Make sure youre already in kind of good shape these take a toll on you. twice a week should suffice, dont be afraid to add a weighted lift in there too.
