I do front squats regularly, I don’t use the stingray though. I use the foam bar pad with backsquats though, although I am trying to get used to squatting without it. I always end up with a couple small bruises on my upper chest/collarbone region, but I think it is from cleans more than front squats.
I started with the front squats to learn how to squat properly, and things are progressing rather nicely but I haven’t stopped doing them.

I use the Sting Ray for Front Squats. Yes, it makes a huge difference. I can front squat with more weight. My shoulders are also relieved for using the Sting Ray.
I seem to be the only guy that doesn’t care for using a Sting Ray. I bought one a few years ago and used it a few times, but I actually found it more uncomfortable then just resting the bar across my shoulders and chest. I just never got used to it. However, just about everyone else I know that’s used a Sting Ray loved it. To each his own, I guess…
I still have it though and from time to time I think about giving it another shot, so perhaps it’s time for that.
For the record, I also have a Manta Ray and love that.
