I lurk this log a lot but had to comment on those PRs! Congrats. That’s simply amazing work. And it’s amazing that you have one guy who spots you because if I had 500lbs over my face I’d want at least 3! Thanks for posting in here, it’s very motivational.

thank you very much for stopping in.

as a raw lifter, i feel very comfortable under 500. with all the supramaximal work i do, i’m used to handling over 600lbs. that’s what i love about my type of training, it makes my full ROM work seem so much lighter.

thanks again.

On that 455 FS while they were futzing with the mono, you should have started screaming “I WANNA HOLD IT! I WANNA HOLD IT!”

Looking real strong Meat!

Miss me?

where have you been?? last i heard you gave up lifting and went into cosmetology.

That’s fairly accurate.

I pretty much gave up heavy lifting after spending a year trying to get rid of the glute injury, just went to the gym and went through the motions. Every Squat or DL heavier than a 5RM led to re-injury. I’m finally (knock on wood) injury free, and have found a new training partner. We’re planning to do a local meet in the late Spring.

And I’m a big can of weak sauce right now.

deadlift’n- had a great session tonight. if anyone is looking for a great assistance movement to help the lockout give the weighted hyperextensions a try. i can already feel the difference with the top end strength. i go really heavy on these and try to be explosive off floor with a barbell. i got a lower back pump from them tonight that i’ve never felt.

deadlift against doubled bands
135x6
225x6
315x4
365x4
405x1
455x1
495x1
545x1-one of my guys is experimenting with sumo so i set up the bands on the outside of the rack to allow for his wide stance. as a result the pins for the bands sit just outside of the plates. if you aren’t careful on the way down they hit the pins and it’s really annoying. to keep this from happening i put a spacer on the bar to move the plates out past the pins. the downside is that once i got to this weight there was no room for collars. as a result, you can see what happened on this pull.

545x1-i got rid of the spacers and pulled it again.

545 was what i had planned to stop at but it felt easy so i moved it up to 565

565x1

hyperextensions with barbell
115x10
185x10
215x8
115x10-paused each rep at top.

Been busy with work, grandaughter, family stuff. The bride was in a serious car accident in the summer so been dealing with her rehab and stuff. Still been lifting when I can.

Yep… looking at competing again, I did two comps in 2011, one geared (kinda lol!) and one raw push pull. Looking to do 2 or 3 meets this year hopefully.

Your bench is getting freakier and freakier brother… holy s***.

Can’t wait to get the bike out once this snow screws off.

today proved that even someone that has been around the iron as long as i have can do stupid shit. my lower back has been giving me problems for a long time bceause of a herniated disc. lately though i feel like i’ve finally moved past it and a result i’ve been back squatting and deadlifting heavy. I’ve really been
pushing the weight on each session…I’ve been pusing it too much too fast. today i decided to up my last set by 45lbs from last week.all of the sets leading up to this last one was really easy. and this one felt very light on during the unrack and on the way down until bam!!! on the way down my out thighs either tore or are really bad pulls. as i was lowering the weight i immideitely felt and heard the popping of the muscles giving way. i got it on video and will put it up. it was both outer quads right along the sweep.the side spotters said they could hear it to.

this fucking sucks… i should know better.

Damn, that sucks. I literally cringed watching the vid. Any idea yet of the extent of the injuries? I’m hoping you ‘only’ strained the muscles, and didn’t actually tear or avulse anything.

not yet…i’ve torn quit a few muscles over the years. i’ll know tomorrow if it’s torn if there’s bleeding under the skin. right now it’s very painful to the touch and i can’t flex either thigh. i can walk fine but to bend the legs to go up stairs or sit in a chair is very painful.

Sorry bro…hope it’s not too bad. Freakin old people lifting heavy stuff. I’m sitting here grabbing my quad watching the video.

knowing you you will bounce back quick

I’m so sorry. Keep us posted.
