Damn, man. You got nothin but awesome lifts in here. You must eat your Wheaties with Budwieser? Bad ass pressing above.

using the mono for pressing? hmmm, not sure what the pl gods think about that. but strong work:)[/quote]
I’m a “think outside of the box” sort of guy. besides, we have a group of guys that range in height from 5’2" to 6’. the mono allows us to quickly move the bar height. just well get our moneys worth out of it.

i’m more of a poptart and whisky guy actually… but thanks.
Reverse grip ohp. Can say I never seen that with that kind of weight. Feel it more in your triceps/upperchest?

felt it in the medial head of the shoulder and triceps big time. i will be keeping them in as a second movement on overhead press day.
tonight was one of those nights i wish i could bottle and disperse when needed. everything felt light and i actually just shut it down with plenty still in the tank.
bench against bands- my plan was to work up to 405 but it felt way too light…just kept going.

freak’n awesome night.
No shit - that 's a good night. 20 and 40 lb PRs are more than rare at your level. And the top banded press was as fast as your regular bench to my eye.
Holy crap. That is one hell of a night. Were those fake bands or something?? lol. They looked pretty tight and even light bands add a lot of resistance stretched like that. Crazy…
I was laughing at the floor press… might have laughed more if you actually couldn’t move the weight, LOL.
Did you get my message the other day? We have a phone number now. I was gonna try to call you again last night but figured you were at the gym, and ya were I guess. Talk to ya later
Everything felt light with plenty left in the tank??? That’s BEAST mode right there.

yeah…it was crazy. don’t know where it came from. i would have laughed too. i know if you heard it but i said…i wonder if i’ll lift it. i wasn’t sure being that it was a 20lb PR.
got it… when i get home from work and think about it, i’m worried that i’ll wake you all up.

Could it be because you backed off a bit on squatting and deadlifting for a time?

i’m thinking that it has a lot to do with finally having healthy shoulders. i’ve always had to deal with shoulder pain while benching. there have been times when i felt like at anytime i would tear something in my shoulders. now there’s no pain and i can totally concentrate on the lift. it’s taken awhile but hitting the shoulders from all angles has finally paid off.
How did you get your shoulders right? I know it wasn’t because you backed off, so was it a grip change, some mobility stuff or voodoo?
Dang fine work btw.
nice fucking prs man, very proud of you
I lurk this log a lot but had to comment on those PRs! Congrats. That’s simply amazing work. And it’s amazing that you have one guy who spots you because if I had 500lbs over my face I’d want at least 3! Thanks for posting in here, it’s very motivational.

Haha yeah I heard it. It was pretty loud, that’s why I was laughing, lol.
Anyway, you can call anytime… phone is downstairs and we sleep upstairs. Won’t even hear it if we are sleeping.
skwatts- still feeling out the lower back. this was the first week of the new cycle. we are doing paused box squats. i went into this one with the plan of working up to 555. i stuck to the plan. it was very comfortable with no lower back pain at all. i’ll up these over the next few weeks and hopefully get these up in the 600’s. i had some fun with the front squats. i was good and warmed up. the plan was to go to 405 for some reps but that felt way too light so i upped it to 455. that still felt pretty light but i shut it down since it’s only week one of the cycle. next week i’ll move the paused box squats up to 585 and the front squats to 495.

before all i would do is press to the front. this strengthened my anterior delts while my medial and posterior delts lagged. eventually i developed quit a bit of pain from the imbalance. once i realized i had such an imbalance i started to do things to work the entire shoulder. now on my overhead day i am sure to hit everything. i do a lot of neutral grip pressing with either the swiss bar or dumbells. i do a ton of dumbell cleans, face pulls and upright rows. i also recently started doing reverse grip overhead pressing and it really targes the medial head of the shoulder.
i wish i had started doing this stuff a couple years ago. i am sure my bench would be much higher now.
