You are a Beast Bro, it’s in your nature, don’t beat yourself up to bad and heal quick my friend.
thanks folks. i haven’t done anything since i then but ice it and take ibuprophin. hopefully i’ll know something in a couple days.
it’s weird and i don’t know if anyone here has had this happen but i’ve torn muscles, pulled muscles and have torn the fascia over the muscles. tearing a muscle has a very distinct sound, like tearing a t-shirt…same with tearing the fascia. i’m starting to think i tore the fascia on the outside of my quads, not the actual muscle. i haven’t squatted heavy for awhile and just jumped right back into it and as a result my quads have blown up. this has happened before but to my pecs. i’ve torn the fascia and not actually the muscle.
that’s my hope at least.
From your description, and based on where you seem to grab in the video, I wonder if your injuries involve the tensor fascia lata/iliotibial band complexes, as opposed to the quads themselves.

Whatever the case, I hope it resolves quickly and without sequelae for you.

you are exactly right. that’s exactly where the pain is. guess i’ll be googling rehab for that area now.
thanks!!! i really appreciate it.
That really sucks. I’ll call ya later
How are the quads?
Bummer. Injuries suck.
My best wishes for a speedy recovery.
bench’n- i have a meet next weekend. it’s an SPF push/pull meet and i was hoping to still do both. i’ve been laying low since i hurt myself last weekend. wasn’t sure how today would go. i wasn’t able to get my feet back as far under my hips as i like but i did okay. warmups went well but on my 500 attempt the IT band on my left leg pulled as i drove my heels down. it will definitely be the limiting factor next weekend but i feel i’ll still put up a respectible bench. deads will be out of the question though.
bench-paused with competition setup.

i can get around now but i worked up to my projected opener on bench today and the left one pulled again just from leg drive. it’s gonna be awhile.

i’ll be back at it. until then i’ll be sport’n the BOF.
Sorry to see the injury buddy… hope you are feelin’ ok nevertheless… lol @ bof
Hows the injury feeling these days?
Meet report. I competed in a meet at the Hampton convention center in Hampton, va. This weekend they held a Sports expo that included crossfit, strongman, martial arts, boxing, gymnastic, bodybuilding and couple others that i can’t remember. It was a two day event with powerlifting being on the second day. The meet was sanctioned by the SPF.
I really didn’t know how well i would do after tearing both IT bands a couple weeks ago. i had worked up to 500 for bench in the gym last weekend and repulled my left one.
I weighed in just over 250. I opened coservatively with 475. felt very light and got 3 whites. went to 500 for my second and again, it flew up for three whites. one of the judges said it looked like a warmup and to jump to 525. i didn’t go that crazy but took 520. felt light in my hands, brought it down and as it came off my chest i drove my heels down hard and pulled both my IT bands again…missed the lift.
won my division and had the highest bench by a good 50lbs. i definitley have a 520 or higher bench in me. i’ll be opening with 500 for now on. all in all a good day considering…
it was just me and one of my guys at this meet so i didn’t have anyone to video.
back to training…tomorrow.
Take care of yourself. 500 for an opener…dang, your just about fullgrown.
One question, have you ever competed when you were 100%? I believe you could wreck some stuff!

actually no i haven’t. i’ve either hurt myslef right before meets or during a meet. i have a very high threshold for pain and things break before the pain gets to be too much.
i’m going to start back training tomorrow to rehab my thighs. i have a couple meets lined up in may. i’m also going to drop to 242 for my next two meets. i sit at 250 normally anyway so it won’t be hard to do.
noice work old man
thanks Pete…from one old man to another.
deads- i’m going to do a cycle of elevated deads to start rehabbing my IT bands. I kept it light and everything felt tolerable today.
elevated deads- about 6 inches

also… i have my eye on a couple meets in May. one is a bench only and the other will be a push/pull. I"ve decided to drop to the 242’s. i’m going to go on a very scientific diet of not eating so much food. it’s very indepth and over most people’s heads.
no more chic fila before saturday training anymore?

weekends will be fair game…so…of course.
I’m interested to see how your ITB’s rehab. I had some minor tears in mine for a while. Know the pain and it truly sucks. Everything I read was about ITB pain in the knee (runners) but mine was from the hip down to lower thigh. Felt like shin splints 24/7 and lifting was just pure fire. They will rehab, hopefully quicker than mine.
